WoW: Forever has added “Kyle’s Gone Missing!” and its quest-giver, Ahab Wheathoof, after players asked for the quest’s return. Principal game designer Johnny Cash called restoring it an “honor and privilege” and remembered Ezra “Ephoenix” Chatterton, the young fan whose Make-A-Wish visit inspired the story, according to GamesRadar.
What is “Kyle’s Gone Missing!” in WoW: Forever?
“Kyle’s Gone Missing!” is a quest in which players help Ahab Wheathoof find his dog, Kyle. GamesRadar reports that WoW: Forever added both the quest and Ahab after player requests. The project is described as preserving the original 2004-era World of Warcraft experience, while the quest itself first appeared in the Burning Crusade era in 2007, according to the outlet.
Where to find Ahab Wheathoof
GamesRadar places Ahab in Bloodhoof Village, in Mulgore, and reports that players must reach level 5 to start the quest. Bloodhoof Village is a starting area for Tauren characters, so Tauren players encounter it in their starting zone.
Why the quest is a tribute to Ezra Chatterton
GamesRadar reports that the quest grew from a Make-A-Wish request by Ezra “Ephoenix” Chatterton, a young World of Warcraft fan diagnosed with brain cancer. According to the outlet, Chatterton helped create Kyle and created and voiced Ahab Wheathoof. He died in 2008, the report says.
#1 Best Overall
Cash’s October 2, 2026 post, quoted by GamesRadar, described bringing the quest into WoW: Forever as an “honor and privilege.” He remembered Chatterton as an enormous WoW fan and concluded: “A tear was shed during this one, my friends. Rest in peace, Ezra.”
What is confirmed about the quest’s history
The available account of the quest’s origin, Chatterton’s role, and the current location and level requirement comes from GamesRadar’s October 2, 2026 report. No official Blizzard or Make-A-Wish confirmation was located, and the original social post was not independently retrieved. Those historical and practical details should therefore be understood as GamesRadar’s reporting rather than independently verified first-party documentation.
