World War Z: Aftermath’s Waves of Lead update went live on October 5, 2026, adding the tier-three Bullpup Shotgun BSG-12 and the heavy melee Gas Pipe Wrench. Saber Interactive’s official notes identify both weapons but do not explain how to unlock, claim, or equip them, so there is no confirmed step-by-step procedure to give.
What weapons did the Waves of Lead update add?
Saber Interactive announced Waves of Lead as free content for World War Z: Aftermath. The October 5, 2026 official patch notes list two new weapons:

- Bullpup Shotgun BSG-12: a tier-three firearm with a unique perk.
- Gas Pipe Wrench: a heavy melee weapon with a unique perk.
The notes do not publish damage, handling, or other combat statistics for either weapon. They establish their categories and tier, but not which performs better or suits a particular class.

The official notes do not state an unlock challenge, currency cost, progression requirement, claim location, or menu path for either weapon. The official Steam announcement confirms the update’s launch, but does not provide those missing instructions either.

That means no specific method—such as completing a mission, reaching a level, spending currency, or visiting a particular menu—can be confirmed from these announcements. Check the in-game weapon menus or prompts for current instructions; if the game displays a requirement, follow that rather than relying on an unverified guide.
How do you use the new heavy-weapon perks?
Waves of Lead also adds six named perks, each associated in the patch notes with a heavy weapon. Saber’s notes do not explain the perks’ effects, unlock requirements, or selection process.

The names and weapon pairings are confirmed; specific effects and instructions for equipping them are not stated in the patch notes. Look for the perk descriptions and any unlock conditions shown in-game before choosing one.

- Valhalla Raider Weapon Skin Pack: skins for the Geist 17MP, ARK-103, BSG-12, Paladin LMG, and Taiga-12. The patch notes do not state its price, purchase path, or regional or platform availability.
- The Walking Dead Episode in Extinction mode and new weekly challenge setups.
What to rely on—and what remains unconfirmed
The reliable takeaway is that the update adds two weapons, six heavy-weapon perks, and other content. The official announcements do not supply enough information to describe weapon acquisition or perk use as a confirmed procedure. Avoid treating a particular challenge, cost, class restriction, or menu route as official unless the game itself or a later Saber announcement provides it.
