The latest dated general Wittle Defender tier list located for this guide is Pocket Gamer’s September 4, 2026 ranking for version 2.0.3. It places 13 heroes in S tier, but that is a broad starting point—not a guaranteed best lineup for every stage, boss, or PvP match. Choose heroes around the battle’s damage needs, your account’s progression, and Chain Skill pairings.
Wittle Defender tier list: S-tier heroes
Pocket Gamer’s September 4, 2026 list, labeled for game version 2.0.3, ranks these 13 heroes in S tier. It covers heroes generally rather than only chapter battles. The ranking is a recommendation from that guide, not an official HABBY ranking or an independently measured win-rate list. Read Pocket Gamer’s full tier list.
| Tier | Heroes | How to use the ranking |
|---|---|---|
| S | Sword Saint, Ice Queen, Ice Demon, Phoenix Dancer Xiluan, Northern Tyrant Ulfric, Robot, Blazing Archer, Demon Spawn, Valkyrie, Stella, Seraph, Fire Mage, Ice Witch | Strong general recommendations in Pocket Gamer’s September 4, 2026 list for version 2.0.3. Choose among them based on the fight and team synergy. |
The list does not establish a ranking order within S tier, so treat the heroes as a group rather than assuming the first name is best. It also does not provide measured pick rates, win rates, or a complete tier-by-tier roster in the findings summarized here.
How to choose heroes for a battle
A tier label cannot replace matching your squad to the encounter. Pocket Gamer notes that some battles favor area-of-effect damage, while others require stronger single-target damage; it does not identify one universally best hero or team. The Wittle AI ranking hub also separates recommendations by game mode and progression stage, including PvP, PvE, bosses, events, and beginner or high-end play. See Wittle AI’s tier-list hub.
#1 Best Overall
- TENSE TEAMWORK – Work together to defend Castle Bravehold as monsters attack from all sides; trade cards, coordinate plans, and keep at least one tower standing to survive the siege as a united team.
- EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT EXPERIENCE – Face plagues, boulders, and boss monsters that disrupt your plans and force strategic choices; each turn adds suspense for both new and experienced players.
- CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE – Enjoy four modes: Co-op, Solo, Master Slayer competitive mode, and Overlord where one player controls the monsters; each option offers unique tension and replay value.
- TOWER DEFENSE THRILLS – Featuring 3D towers, vibrant monster tokens, and an illustrated board, this 45-minute adventure blends accessibility with satisfying strategic depth for 1–6 players.
- HEARTHSIDE HARMONY – Bring friends and family together with an easy-to-learn game that blends teamwork, excitement, and warm table energy; ideal for mixed-experience groups and repeat play.
- For groups of enemies: Prioritize heroes whose area damage suits the encounter.
- For a boss or a priority target: Favor a lineup with single-target damage rather than assuming an area-damage pick will perform the same job.
- For PvP, events, or other challenges: Look for recommendations made for that mode; a general list may not reflect its specific demands.
- For a developing account: Consider what you can field and improve now, not only a list built around late-game investment.
Chain Skills and hero pairings
Chain Skills are passive skills that activate when two heroes with the same skill are deployed, according to Pocket Gamer. A pairing can therefore change a hero’s value in a team; check the skill match before committing squad slots or upgrades.
- Ice Queen + Ice Demon: A pairing highlighted by Pocket Gamer for Chain Skill synergy.
- Ice Mage + Ice Witch: Another pairing the guide identifies. Ice Mage is named in this example but is not among the 13 heroes in that guide’s S tier.
- Blazing Archer + Demon Spawn: A pairing the guide also calls out; both heroes appear in its S tier.
Why an endgame tier list may disagree
Wittle AI’s high-end ranking, dated June 2, 2026 and marked Patch v2.8, uses a narrower set of assumptions: heroes are at least 3-Diamond and the player is past Chapter 100. It gives Starlight Weaver a mandatory lineup role and includes Panda Brewmaster, Monkey King, Void Witch, Levin Archangel, Archon Armor, and Drakaina among its S-tier selections. Some ratings also change with pairings. View Wittle AI’s hero tier page.

This is a different, older endgame view—not a direct update to Pocket Gamer’s broader September list. The two sources should not be combined into one ranking without accounting for their dates, progression assumptions, and scope. Wittle AI describes 36 heroes as verified on its page; that is the site’s own count, not an independently audited count of the live roster.

Google Play identifies Wittle Defender as a HABBY mobile game combining tower defense, roguelike elements, and card strategy, with hero squads and varied skills. Its listing shows an update date of September 8, 2026, after Pocket Gamer’s ranking date. That store date does not establish that hero balance changed in the update, and the sources here do not verify an official October 2026 hero ranking. Check the Google Play listing.

The Play listing displays 1M+ downloads, a store metric that should not be read as active players. It also notes in-app purchases, including random items. Its promotional description says, “Winning or losing is about strategy and choices, not luck!”—that is the publisher’s wording, not an independently established finding about gameplay.
