Microsoft released KB5068861 on November 11, 2025, as the cumulative security update for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2. It installs build 26200.7171 on 25H2 and 26100.7171 on 24H2. KB5067112 is a separate, earlier optional preview for Windows 11 23H2—not the November security update. It was released October 28, 2025, and produces build 22631.6133.
KB5068861 and KB5067112 are for different Windows 11 versions
These updates should not be treated as alternatives for the same installation. KB5068861 targets Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2; KB5067112 targets 23H2. Microsoft’s release pages identify their dates, update types, builds, and change lists as follows:
| Update | Release and type | Windows version and resulting build | Distribution |

Microsoft describes KB5068861 as containing the latest Windows security fixes and improvements, along with non-security changes carried forward from the previous month’s optional preview, KB5067036. KB5067112 is that October preview for 23H2; it is not an update to install on 24H2 or 25H2. Microsoft’s KB5068861 notes and KB5067112 notes provide the version-specific details.

What KB5068861 changes in Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2
Security and quality fixes
Microsoft says the update addresses security issues in Windows. Its quality changes include fixes carried forward from KB5067036, including issues involving gaming handhelds, Storage Spaces and Storage Spaces Direct, Task Manager, Voice Access, and desktop selection:
#1 Best Overall
- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
- Gaming handhelds: Improves low-power behavior and controller response after sign-in.
- Storage: Fixes issues affecting Storage Spaces and Storage Spaces Direct.
- Task Manager: Addresses processes that could remain running after the Task Manager window was closed.
- Voice Access: Fixes setup that could fail when no microphone was connected.
- Desktop selection: Addresses a problem where selecting items on the desktop could unexpectedly open Task View.
HTTP.sys request parsing
KB5068861 also addresses an HTTP.sys parser issue involving HTTP/1.1 chunk extensions. The release notes say the parser accepted a single line break where RFC 9112 requires a carriage return followed by a line feed to end each chunk. That difference could lead to inconsistent parsing when a front-end proxy is involved. Microsoft documents a registry setting to disable strict parsing, but it is a configuration option in the release notes—not a routine consumer workaround. Avoid changing registry settings unless you understand the setting and have a specific reason to do so.
Servicing stack and Copilot+ PC components
The update includes servicing stack update KB5067035, version 26100.7010. Microsoft also lists Image Search, Content Extraction, Semantic Analysis, and Settings Model at version 1.2510.1159.0. Those AI component updates apply only to Copilot+ PCs.

What KB5067112 changes in Windows 11 23H2
KB5067112 is an optional non-security preview for 23H2. Its listed fixes focus on app permissions, input, networking, and storage-cluster reliability:
- User Account Control: Addresses unexpected UAC prompts during some app operations, including operations involving Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Touch keyboard: Fixes key presses that might not register after the device wakes from sleep.
- Virtual switches: Addresses external virtual switches losing their physical network-interface bindings and becoming internal switches after a host restart.
- Azure clusters: Fixes disk communication errors during Azure Stack Hub or Azure Local cluster upgrades.
- Personalized Offers: Enables the feature during device setup and in Settings.
The update includes servicing stack update KB5068070, version 22621.6120. Microsoft’s page records a November 11 revision to the build number and a November 25 note that the UAC fix is included in the October non-security update. The page stated that Microsoft was not aware of issues with KB5067112.

Microsoft’s KB5068861 release page documents two issue histories that may matter to particular setups. Their presence in the notes does not mean every device remains affected; Microsoft lists later updates as fixes.
Password icon may be hard to see on the lock screen
The password sign-in button can be invisible in the lock-screen sign-in options, even though its placeholder remains selectable. Microsoft says the issue primarily affects enterprise or IT-managed environments and is very unlikely on personal Home or Pro devices. The release page lists KB5074105 as addressing it.

WSL mirrored networking and some third-party VPNs
Microsoft reports that WSL mirrored networking may fail with some third-party VPN applications after KB5067036 or a later update. Cisco Secure Client (formerly Cisco AnyConnect) and OpenVPN are among the named applications; one possible symptom is a “No route to host” message when connecting to enterprise resources. The page lists KB5074109 as the fix. Check current update status and, on a managed device, consult your administrator before changing VPN or network settings.

Is Windows 11 23H2 still supported?
Support depends on the edition. Microsoft states that Windows 11 23H2 Home and Pro support ended on November 11, 2025. The listed Enterprise, Enterprise N, IoT Enterprise, and Education editions have later support end dates. If you use 23H2, check the support status for your specific edition rather than assuming KB5067112 changes its servicing lifecycle.
