Check eligibility before installing
- Starting version: Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2. The article does not list earlier Windows releases as eligible starting versions.
- Prerequisite update: The September 22, 2026 preview of KB5124010, OS build 26100.9546, or a later cumulative update must be installed first.
- Editions listed: Home and Pro; Enterprise and Education; Enterprise Multi-Session; and IoT Enterprise.
- Restart: A restart is required after applying KB5121794.
Ways to get the update
Windows Update for an individual PC
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- If Windows 11 version 26H2 is offered, select Download & install.
- Complete the installation and restart when prompted.
Microsoft lists Windows Update as a distribution channel; availability on a particular device depends on whether the update is offered there.

Microsoft lists Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) as another distribution channel. Its guidance specifies Product: Windows 11 and Classification: Upgrades, and names the feature update Windows 11, version 26H2.
What is—and is not—established about the offline installer
The official guidance identifies Microsoft Update Catalog as a channel, which supports using the Catalog for an offline-update workflow. It does not, in the information available here, establish a direct KB5121794 .msu link or specific MSU package details. Package size, architecture-specific files, hashes, and deployment-tool commands are not stated. Verify the actual catalog record and its applicable package details directly in Microsoft Update Catalog before using an offline installer.
