Christian Benford was listed as questionable for the Buffalo Bills’ Week 4 game against the New England Patriots after missing every practice that week with a toe injury. As of Saturday, October 3, 2026, the reports did not confirm whether he would play; “questionable” means he is not certain to play, not that he is definitely in or out.
Why was Christian Benford unable to practice?
Benford injured his toe during the third quarter of Buffalo’s Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers and did not return, according to CBS Sports’ October 1 report. The Bills’ official Week 4 injury report listed him as a did-not-practice (DNP) participant on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Will Benford play Sunday against the Patriots?
His availability was unresolved as of Saturday, October 3. The Bills listed him as questionable for the Patriots game, and the NFL’s Week 4 injury report did not establish his eventual active status. Buffalo defines “Questionable” as: “Player is not certain to play.” The game was scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The Friday DNP and questionable designation also appear in the Patriots’ October 2 injury report. Neither the designation nor the missed practices alone confirms whether Benford will be active.

Who could replace Benford if he is out?
Davison Igbinosun could draw the start if Benford cannot play, according to RotoWire. That is a contingency, not a confirmed lineup change.

- Check the NFL’s injury report for the latest listing.
- Look for the final active/inactive announcement before kickoff; that is the clearest confirmation of whether he will play.
