Generally, yes: Cardo says its Packtalk Bold can be fitted to virtually any helmet, including full-face, dirt-bike, open-face, 3/4, modular and half helmets. But “any” does not mean every helmet uses the same mounting parts or microphone. Your helmet style, available speaker pockets and the position of your ears determine what installation will work.
Which helmet styles does Cardo support?
Cardo’s Packtalk Bold product support page lists full-face, dirt-bike, open-face, 3/4, modular and half helmets. It also says the unit fits most ski helmets. For half helmets and ski helmets, Cardo specifies an additional Boom Microphone Cradle or half-helmet kit; check the instructions for your exact unit to confirm the required part.
This is the manufacturer’s stated compatibility, not an independent fit test of every helmet model, head shape or hardware combination. Cardo does not publish a comparative fit rating across helmet brands.
What changes by helmet style?
The microphone is the main style-dependent component. Cardo’s installation guidance specifies a wired microphone for full-face helmets and a boom microphone for modular and open-face helmets. Half helmets require a separate Half Helmet Kit.

| Helmet style | Microphone guidance | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Full-face | Wired microphone | Check the cable route and keep it clear of cheek-pad pressure. |
| Modular or open-face | Boom microphone | Position the boom so the microphone sits appropriately when the helmet is worn. |
| Half helmet | Separate Half Helmet Kit | Confirm the kit matches your specific Cardo unit. |
| Ski helmet | Cardo says most ski helmets fit; a Boom Microphone Cradle or half-helmet kit may be required | Check the product-specific instructions and mounting arrangement. |
These are Cardo’s stated microphone and accessory guidelines; the company does not give a fit rating for each individual helmet model.
Will the speakers line up with your ears?
Speaker placement is a comfort and sound issue even when the unit can be mounted. Cardo says speakers sound best close to the ears and directly opposite the ear canals.

- While wearing the helmet, locate where your ears sit inside it.
- Take the helmet off and position each speaker opposite the corresponding ear.
- If the speaker pockets are too deep, use the supplied booster pads to bring the speakers closer.
- If the helmet’s speaker cavities do not line up with your ears, Cardo says the speakers may be placed outside the cavities, opposite your ears.
- Route cables so they are not pinched by cheek pads or creating pressure points, then put the helmet on and check the fit.
How do mounting and extra-helmet kits work?
The mounting method depends on the Cardo generation and helmet. Cardo’s installation article says Packtalk Edge and Pro include the Air Mount system and describes an adhesive base plate. The same guide identifies a separate Shoei Adapter Gen 3 for the Shoei NEOTEC 3, GT-AIR 3 and J-CRUISE 3. That adapter is model-specific; verify exact compatibility and current availability before buying.
If you want to use one Cardo unit with another helmet, Cardo offers second-helmet kits that provide helmet-side components. Choose a kit that matches both your headset and the intended helmet style rather than assuming that kits are interchangeable.

Cardo’s installation article estimates most helmet installations take 15 to 30 minutes. This is the manufacturer’s estimate in an article originally published November 15, 2020, not an independently measured installation time. Because mount designs and kit contents can vary by generation, check your exact headset’s current support information before installation.

- Speakers feel too far from your ears: Try the supplied booster pads and recheck alignment while wearing the helmet.
- Speaker cavities miss your ears: Cardo says speakers can be positioned outside the cavities opposite the ears, if the helmet’s construction allows it.
- A cable presses against you or gets trapped: Reroute it before refitting the cheek pads; do not leave it pinched.
- Your helmet needs a different microphone or mount: Check the instructions for your headset and select a compatible style-specific or second-helmet kit.
Cardo’s support and parts information also identifies booster pads and replacement speakers for cases where adjustment or replacement is needed.
