Yes—128GB installed as two 64GB DDR5 modules is within the ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI’s current stated memory capacity, and the board supports AMD EXPO. That does not prove that every 2×64GB kit will run at its advertised EXPO speed. Confirm the exact memory part number and profile speed in ASUS’s live memory QVL, then update the BIOS and test stability after enabling EXPO.

What ASUS officially supports

The product identified by this question is the ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI—not the PRIME X670-PRO, PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI-CSM, or a ROG STRIX model. ASUS’s current technical specifications list a maximum of 192GB of DDR5 and support for AMD EXPO. A 2×64GB kit totals 128GB, so it is below the board’s stated maximum.

An older indexed manual result mentions 128GB. For a current capacity decision, use the live online specification rather than that older figure.

Capacity support is not the same as kit validation

Question What the available ASUS information establishes
Can the board address 128GB? Yes. Two 64GB modules total 128GB, within the current 192GB maximum.
Does the board support EXPO? Yes. EXPO is listed as a supported memory-overclocking profile.
Is every 2×64GB EXPO kit guaranteed? No. Validation depends on the exact part number, memory IC configuration, CPU and BIOS.
Is the advertised EXPO speed guaranteed? No. ASUS notes that attainable speed varies with the processor and memory configuration and may be limited by platform conditions.

Therefore, “the board supports 2×64GB” and “this particular kit runs at its EXPO rating” are separate claims. The first is covered by the capacity specification; the second requires a matching QVL entry and a stable system.

How to check a 2×64GB kit before buying

  1. Copy the complete manufacturer part number from the kit listing or its label. Capacity and brand alone are not enough.
  2. Open ASUS’s PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI Memory QVL.
  3. Use the memory-size filter for 2×64GB, then search for the exact part number.
  4. Check the listed tested speed and whether the entry identifies an EXPO profile. Do not substitute a similar-looking kit number.
  5. Confirm that your Ryzen processor is supported and that the board is running a BIOS version appropriate for your CPU and memory generation.

The currently visible QVL result exposes the 2×64GB filter, but not the matching kit rows or their tested speeds. Consequently, no specific 2×64GB model or EXPO frequency can be called ASUS-validated from the information available here.

What to expect when enabling EXPO

EXPO applies memory settings above the default JEDEC baseline. Even when a kit appears on the QVL, the memory controller is inside the CPU, so results can differ between processors. ASUS explicitly cautions that the maximum supported data rate may not be reached because of CPU and platform constraints.

  • Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
  • Install the two modules in the motherboard’s recommended dual-channel slots, normally A2 and B2; follow the board manual if its slot guidance differs.
  • Enter UEFI, load the kit’s EXPO profile, save, and allow the first memory-training boot to complete. The first boot can take longer than usual.
  • Verify the resulting memory frequency in UEFI or the operating system rather than assuming the profile applied.
  • Run a memory-stability test and normal workloads. Errors, boot loops or repeated training failures mean the selected settings are not stable on that combination.

If EXPO is unstable, clear or reset UEFI settings, boot at default memory settings, and try a lower memory speed or a newer BIOS. Do not raise voltages beyond the memory manufacturer’s specifications simply to force the advertised rating.

Practical buying decision

A product described as a 128GB (2×64GB) DDR5 EXPO kit is the right category for this board, but buy only after the exact part number is checked against ASUS’s current QVL. If no row is present, the kit may still work, but it is an unvalidated combination rather than a guaranteed one. Keep the retailer’s return period in mind and test promptly.

The original forum wording—“2x64gb with EXPO work on asus x670e pro wifi”—is useful as a description of the question, not as compatibility evidence; the AnandTech discussion cannot replace ASUS’s specification and QVL.

Bottom line

Two 64GB DDR5 modules should fit within the ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI’s current 192GB capacity, and the motherboard supports EXPO. What remains kit-specific is whether your exact 128GB kit, CPU and BIOS combination will run its advertised EXPO speed reliably. Check the exact part number in ASUS’s live QVL before purchase and verify stability after setup.
