Wialon connected its four-millionth vehicle in July 2024, reaching that milestone through South African partner GotYou Telematics. The figure counts vehicles connected to Wialon’s fleet-management and IoT platform—not vehicles made by Wialon. The company announced the milestone on 12 August 2024, reporting coverage across 160 countries.
What Wialon’s four-million-vehicle milestone counts
Wialon is a fleet-management and IoT software platform developed by Gurtam. Its four-million figure refers to vehicles connected to the platform through its ecosystem of service partners and compatible devices. It is not a production total, a count of vehicles owned by Gurtam, or a measure of how many vehicles are active on the road at any one moment.
Wialon’s milestone announcement identifies GotYou Telematics in South Africa as the partner that registered the landmark vehicle. GotYou has worked with Wialon since 2017 and provides security and management services for transport and other assets in South Africa. Its founder and CEO, Aldo Gerber, said: “Today, we are delighted to be part of the international Wialon family and to have connected the 4 millionth vehicle to the platform.”
Wialon’s 12 August 2024 release said the platform had reached four million connected vehicles across 160 countries. It also reported that the connected-vehicle count grew from 400,000 in 2015 to four million in 2024—a tenfold increase over that period. These are figures Wialon reported for the 2024 milestone, not a live count for today.

How the platform is used
Wialon software receives data from connected vehicles and devices, then gives fleet operators tools to monitor vehicles and manage operations. Depending on the devices, configuration and service provider, common applications include:
- Tracking: viewing vehicle locations and movements in real time.
- Fuel management: monitoring fuel use and identifying possible inefficiencies.
- Driver safety: analyzing driving behavior to support safer practices.
- Maintenance planning: organizing servicing and upkeep for fleet vehicles.
- Operational use cases: managing delivery fleets, public transport, agricultural vehicles and indoor assets.
Wialon presents these tools as ways to improve productivity, optimize fuel consumption, increase driver safety and support sustainability. The platform supplies software; the specific information available to a fleet depends on its installed hardware, integrations and setup.

Scale, compatibility and ecosystem
The milestone’s geographic reach is one measure of Wialon’s scale, but its ecosystem also matters to customers and service providers. Wialon’s company page lists more than 4,100 compatible device models and more than 2,700 partner companies. Its ecosystem includes hardware manufacturers, connectivity providers and developers that build solutions using Wialon, as described in Gurtam’s 2024 ecosystem factsheet.
Broad device compatibility and a large partner network can give operators more choice in equipment and implementation. They do not, by themselves, establish that every device or partner is available in every country, or that every deployment provides the same features. Fleet operators should confirm compatibility, local service availability and the functions included in a proposed setup with the relevant provider.

Is four million still Wialon’s current count?
No: four million is the 2024 milestone, not a current live total. Wialon’s company timeline lists 4.2 million connected vehicles in 2025. The company’s public figures therefore show the platform continuing to grow after the four-million milestone, but they should be read with their dates rather than treated as an exact present-day count.
Wialon’s 2024 release also said the platform processed five billion data points daily. That is a company-reported daily processing figure associated with the 2024 announcement; it is not a count of vehicles or a separately verified measure of platform performance.

What the milestone does—and does not—show
The milestone demonstrates the reach Wialon reported for its connected-vehicle platform and the role of local partners such as GotYou Telematics in bringing vehicles onto it. The reported 160-country presence, device compatibility and partner network help explain how a software platform can serve varied fleets without manufacturing vehicles itself.
The count alone does not show how many customers use each feature, how much fuel or cost operators save, or how outcomes compare with other fleet platforms. Those results depend on fleet conditions, implementation and measurement; the four-million milestone is a scale figure, not proof of a specific operational benefit.
