A Google Business Profile listing does not automatically become a location in every Performance Max campaign. Google Ads must be connected to the correct Business Profile manager account or business group, the locations must finish syncing, and the campaign must use the relevant locations or Location Group. Verification and an active location asset also matter. For store-goals campaigns, you explicitly choose which locations to promote.

If the setup is correct but you still cannot see an ad, that is a separate serving issue: targeting, campaign status, relevance and auction competition determine whether an ad appears in a particular search or placement.

First, identify what is missing

“My profile does not appear” can describe several different situations:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • The Business Profile account or group is not available to Google Ads.
  • The location source is connected, but locations are still synchronizing.
  • The location exists in Google Ads but is excluded from the campaign’s selected locations.
  • The location is present but its location asset is disabled or ineligible.
  • The campaign is configured correctly, but an ad is not serving in a particular auction.

These cases require different fixes. A profile being visible on Google Search or Maps proves that the listing exists; it does not prove that Google Ads has permission to use it or that a particular Performance Max campaign has selected it.

How Business Profile locations reach Performance Max

Google Ads uses a linked location source rather than reading every public listing automatically. The source can be your own locations from a connected Business Profile, chain stores, eligible Google Maps locations, or affiliate locations when retailers sell your products. The correct path depends on who operates the location and what the campaign is intended to promote.

Location source Use it when What to verify
Your own locations You operate the stores or service locations being advertised. The correct Business Profile manager account or business group is linked and the intended locations are selected.
Chain stores You manage multiple branches under a chain structure. The connected source contains the branches and the campaign uses all locations or the right Location Group.
Eligible Google Maps locations You need a location that qualifies through Google’s location data and account setup. Eligibility, ownership or operating relationship, and asset status.
Affiliate locations Retailers sell your products and you want to promote those retail locations. That affiliate-location option is appropriate instead of your own-business locations.

Within a connected source, a campaign can generally use all available Business Profile locations or a specific Location Group. Selecting a group is essential when only certain branches, regions or brands should be promoted.

Step-by-step: make the location available

1. Confirm the connection and account permissions

In Google Ads, open the location-asset or linked-location setup and check which Business Profile manager account or business group is connected. Make sure it is the account that owns or manages the missing listing, not a different personal account or an unrelated manager account.

If another manager account controls the locations, use Google’s access-request flow. The owner must approve the request before Google Ads can use that source. An account administrator may be able to see the profile in a browser while the advertising account still lacks the required permission, so test the connection from the exact Google Ads account that owns the Performance Max campaign.

  • Check the email or manager account shown in the connection screen.
  • Confirm the missing location is inside the connected business group.
  • Have the Business Profile owner approve any pending request.
  • Remove or correct an old connection if Google Ads is linked to the wrong source.

2. Allow the synchronization window

After location assets are connected or changed, Google says it can take 24–28 hours for locations to appear as synced. This is an expected synchronization period, not proof that the setup failed. Do not repeatedly disconnect and reconnect the source during that window; doing so can make it harder to tell whether the original change completed.

Record when the connection or location change was made. If the location is still absent after the stated window, continue with the permission, selection and eligibility checks below rather than waiting indefinitely.

3. Create or inspect the Location Group

For specific Performance Max store locations, connect the Business Profile and create a Location Group containing the branches you intend to advertise. Review the group for exclusions, renamed branches and accidental empty membership.

  1. Open the campaign’s location or location-asset settings.
  2. Choose the connected Business Profile location source.
  3. Select all locations if every eligible profile location should be promoted, or choose the relevant Location Group for a subset.
  4. Save the selection and verify that the missing branch is listed in the chosen source or group.

A location can be perfectly valid in the Business Profile and still be invisible to the campaign if the campaign is using a different group or an older subset.

4. Check verification and location-asset status

Open the Business Profile and verify that the address and business details meet Google’s verification requirements where verification applies. Then inspect the corresponding location asset in Google Ads. It should be active, not disabled at the campaign or ad-group level.

Check the same location at both levels when the interface exposes separate controls. A location asset can exist in the account but be turned off for the particular campaign. Also look for policy, duplicate, closed-location or incomplete-information warnings. Correct the underlying Business Profile issue first, then allow the status to update in Google Ads.

5. Confirm the campaign uses a store goal

Performance Max campaigns with store goals require the advertiser to define the locations to promote. Having a Business Profile does not implicitly assign every branch to the campaign. During campaign setup or editing, confirm that the intended location source and Location Group are selected for the store goal.

If the campaign has a different objective, do not assume that store-location behavior applies in the same way. Review the campaign’s goal and conversion setup before troubleshooting a location that may not be required by that campaign type.

6. Do not add conflicting radius or geo targeting

For Performance Max campaigns for store goals, Google advises against adding extra geographic or radius targets on top of the selected store locations. Dynamic radius targeting is already applied around the chosen stores. Additional manual targeting can create confusing coverage or exclusions and does not make an unselected location eligible.

Use the store-location selection as the source of truth. Add other geographic controls only when the campaign’s documented setup calls for them and you understand how they interact with the store goal.

Why a correctly linked location may still not show an ad

Eligibility and delivery are different questions. Once a location is connected, synced, selected and active, Google still decides whether an ad enters and wins a particular auction. Google identifies campaign status, targeting, location setup, ad relevance and auction competition as factors that can affect visibility.

  • Campaign status: A paused, ended, limited or newly changed campaign may not serve.
  • Targeting: The user, query, schedule or geographic context may not match the campaign.
  • Location setup: The searcher may not be within the dynamic area associated with the selected store.
  • Relevance: Assets, landing pages and products may not fit the query or local intent.
  • Auction competition: Another advertiser can win the impression even when your location is eligible.

Therefore, a single search without your ad is not a reliable test of whether the Business Profile is connected. Use Google Ads diagnostics and campaign reporting to distinguish “location unavailable” from “eligible but not served.”

Common failure patterns and the right fix

The listing is visible in Maps, but Google Ads shows no location

This usually indicates a source or permission problem rather than a search-visibility problem. Check the connected manager account, business group membership and any pending owner approval. Then wait through the 24–28-hour synchronization period before escalating.

Some branches appear, but one branch is missing

Inspect the missing branch’s verification and address status, then review Location Group membership. The campaign may be using a curated group that omits the branch, or the branch may be inactive, duplicated or not yet synchronized.

The location appears in the account but not in the campaign

Open the campaign’s store-goal location selection. Switch from an incomplete Location Group to the intended group, or select all locations if that is the business requirement. Also check for a campaign-level or ad-group-level disabled location asset.

The campaign is active, but you cannot find the ad yourself

Do not change the Business Profile connection solely because one manual search produced no ad. Check campaign status, audience and geographic targeting, local relevance and auction conditions. Serving is dynamic and no configuration guarantees an impression on every search.

A radius target was added to “help” the stores appear

Remove the unnecessary extra radius or geo target for a store-goals Performance Max campaign unless Google’s current setup guidance specifically requires it. Selected store locations already use dynamic radius targeting.

Choosing all locations versus a Location Group

Selection Best fit Risk to check
All Business Profile locations You want the campaign to cover every eligible branch in the connected source. A newly added or unintended branch may be included after synchronization.
Specific Location Group You need a regional, seasonal, franchise or product-specific subset. The missing branch may simply not belong to the selected group.

Use a group when operational control matters, and review its membership whenever branches open, close, change ownership or move between campaigns. Use all locations only when broad coverage is intentional and the connected source is clean.

When to escalate the issue

Escalate through Google Ads or Business Profile support after you have documented the connection, owner approval, synchronization date, selected source, Location Group membership, verification state and asset status. Include the customer ID, campaign name, affected location identifier and screenshots of the relevant status messages. This gives support enough context to distinguish an account-access fault from a normal serving limitation.

Interface labels and eligibility rules can change. Google’s official guidance reviewed on October 13, 2026, is the applicable reference for the 24–28-hour sync estimate, store-goal location selection and location-asset checks; recheck the current Help instructions if your account presents different controls.
