If your Fitbit has stopped vibrating, first check whether the problem affects only phone notifications or also alarms and other alerts. That distinction helps separate a phone or notification-setting issue from a problem affecting the tracker more broadly. Work through the checks below before seeking device-specific support.
First, identify which alerts are silent
Google Health Help Center says a Fitbit can vibrate for alarms, step-goal alerts, and hourly activity alerts. Test an alarm or another device alert as well as a phone notification. If device alerts still vibrate but phone notifications do not, start with notification delivery and phone settings. If every alert is silent, check the Fitbit’s vibration and quiet-mode settings, then restart it.
Check vibration strength and quiet modes
Open the settings available on your Fitbit model and look for the vibration control. Vibration strength is adjustable, and menu names or paths can differ by device. Make sure vibration has not been turned down or disabled.
Also check the tracker’s Do Not Disturb and Sleep Mode settings. Do Not Disturb can suppress notifications, goal celebrations, heart-zone alerts, and reminders to move from vibrating or waking the screen. Sleep Mode stops notification vibration and screen wake. Turn off any mode that should not be active, then test an alert again. See Google’s Fitbit settings guidance for device-specific controls.

If only phone notifications stopped
Confirm that notifications reach the phone itself. If they do not, fix the phone’s app or notification settings first; the Fitbit cannot relay an alert the phone never receives. Also check that phone Do Not Disturb is off, since it can prevent alerts from reaching the tracker.
Android
Check that Google Health can run in the background and that Android is not restricting its background activity. In the Google Health app, open the Fitbit device’s Notifications section and check for the Android-only Always Vibrate setting. Confirm that it is enabled if you want the tracker to vibrate for notifications. Google’s instructions are at Why are notifications delayed or missing?

iPhone or iPad
In the iPhone or iPad Bluetooth settings, check that Share System Notifications is enabled for your Fitbit. If it is already on, toggle it off and back on. Phone Do Not Disturb or driving mode can also keep the Fitbit from alerting even when notifications otherwise arrive on the device. Follow Google’s iPhone and iPad notification guidance for the applicable steps.

Restart procedures differ among Fitbit models; some require connecting the device to its charging cable, especially if it is unresponsive. Use the instructions for your exact model rather than trying a button sequence from a different Fitbit. Google’s restart guidance provides model-specific steps. If the restart does not restore vibration, continue with the update check or contact support.

Check for a device update
An available update may address device issues, but its availability does not prove that outdated software caused the vibration problem. Keep the Fitbit charged, update the companion app, leave it running, and keep the tracker near the phone or tablet during the update. Google notes that updates are distributed gradually and can take more than an hour. See Google’s Fitbit update instructions.
If an update fails, check the device’s charge, the app version, and the connection between the Fitbit and phone or tablet. Restart both the Fitbit and the host phone, then try again. Do not jump to a factory reset as a routine vibration fix: Google recommends it only for specified severe update failures, and it erases locally stored unsynced data and settings. Consult Google’s update troubleshooting steps before considering that option.

When to contact Google Health support
If alarms and other device alerts remain silent after checking vibration strength and quiet modes, restarting the exact model, and checking for updates, contact Google Health support for a device-specific assessment. The official guidance covers settings, notifications, restarts, and updates; it does not establish a user-serviceable vibration-motor repair or identify a replacement part.
