If XREAL glasses show a blank screen or disconnect, first check the cable and whether your source device can send video over USB-C. A USB-C socket alone is not enough: the host must support DisplayPort (DP) video output. The on-screen symptom then helps narrow down whether the problem is the connection, display positioning, or one app’s restrictions.
Start with the connection and cable
- Unplug and reseat the cable. Make sure it is firmly connected at both the glasses and the source device.
- Use the supplied cable if available. If you need a replacement, choose a full-featured USB-C cable that supports DisplayPort video transmission; a charging-only cable will not carry the display signal.
- Try another compatible source device. If the glasses still do not show the XREAL logo after repeated reconnections, test them with a device known to support DP video. If the logo remains absent, contact XREAL support. XREAL’s One Series black-screen guide recommends these checks.
Confirm your device supports USB-C video
Check the specifications for the exact phone, computer, handheld, or other source model. Look for USB-C DisplayPort output, often called DP Alt Mode. A USB-C port used only for charging or data cannot directly drive the glasses as an external display. Support and compatibility vary by manufacturer and model; XREAL makes the same distinction in its device connection guidance and ROG XREAL R1 compatibility guidance.
If your source has HDMI or DisplayPort instead
Do not assume that any USB-C adapter will work. The appropriate route depends on the glasses generation, source, input type, and power requirements. XREAL documents a ROG Control Dock route for ROG XREAL R1 sources without USB-C video output, using HDMI or DisplayPort. For the glasses family covered by XREAL’s cited device-connection guide, the instructions describe HDMI-to-USB-C adapters and an official XREAL Hub for Switch or Switch OLED setups. Check the instructions for your precise glasses model before buying an adapter or dock; these product-specific paths are not interchangeable. See XREAL’s ROG XREAL R1 connection guide and device connection guide for the cited glasses family.

Match the symptom to the next check
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No XREAL logo | Reseat the cable, try the supplied cable, and test a known DP-capable device. If the logo still does not appear after repeated reconnection, contact XREAL support. |
| XREAL logo, then a DP warning | The DP signal was not successfully detected. Confirm that the source supports video output and reconnect. If it does support DP and the warning remains, contact the source-device manufacturer or XREAL. |
| Connection appears normal, but the screen is misplaced in Anchor mode | Long-press the X button to recenter the display. This check applies to the stated mode, not every blank-screen issue. |
| Black screen in only one app | Reconnect and reopen the app, then check whether it supports external-display output. DRM or HDCP protection may block protected content from appearing on an external screen; changing cables will not remove that restriction. |
These symptom-specific checks follow XREAL’s One Series troubleshooting guide.

Update firmware when appropriate
For XREAL One Series, XREAL describes two official update routes: use the XREAL OTA page on a Windows or Mac computer, or follow the update prompt when the glasses are connected to a Wi-Fi-connected Beam Pro. XREAL estimates the update takes about five minutes; that is the company’s stated estimate, not a guaranteed duration or a promise that an update will fix every display problem. Follow the One Series FAQ for the current procedure.
A narrow network-recognition issue
If a phone or TV box recognizes One Series glasses as a network device, or loses network access when they are connected, XREAL’s TCP/IP setting instructions say to update the firmware first and disable TCP/IP only for that misidentification. This is an advanced remedy for that specific issue, not a general first step for a blank display.

Contact support with details that narrow it down
If the checks do not resolve the problem, provide XREAL support with the glasses model, source-device model, and connection method. Also report whether the XREAL logo appears, the exact text of any warning, whether another known-compatible device works, and—if the issue occurs in only one app—the app’s name. XREAL’s One Series troubleshooting guide specifically asks for the device model and affected app in app-only cases.
