Xiaomi has not officially confirmed that it canceled the Xiaomi 18 Ultra. Reports published on October 5, 2026, attribute the claim to tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS): the phone was reportedly expected to cost CNY 9,999, and Xiaomi allegedly considered that price too high for sustainable sales. The cancellation, its reported reason, and the device’s rumored specifications remain unconfirmed.
Why is the Xiaomi 18 Ultra reportedly canceled?
The latest explanation is price, not a confirmed statement from Xiaomi. Android Authority and Gizmochina reported on October 5, 2026, that DCS put the phone’s expected China price at CNY 9,999 and said Xiaomi viewed that level as too expensive to support sustainable sales. Neither report supplies a cancellation announcement from Xiaomi or a specific sales forecast.
That figure would be above the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s official China starting price of RMB 6,999, according to Xiaomi’s March 2026 investor presentation. These are prices for different generations, and the 18 Ultra figure is a leak; the comparison does not establish what Xiaomi would ultimately have charged or whether price alone drove a product decision.

Earlier reports offered a separate possible factor. ANTARA News on August 17, 2026, summarized speculation that rising memory costs could have influenced Xiaomi’s lineup plans, alongside a possible focus on models expected to sell in higher volumes. That remains speculation distinct from the October reports’ alleged price-and-sales rationale.

Was the Xiaomi 18 Ultra officially canceled?
Not in the sources reviewed. Notebookcheck reported cancellation rumors on July 20, 2026, and noted Xiaomi had not commented at the time. ANTARA later described tipster claims that the Xiaomi 18 series might launch without an Ultra, possibly comprising the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max. The October 5 reports added the alleged price and hardware details. Together, these reports show an evolving rumor trail, not independent confirmation from Xiaomi.
ANTARA also relayed speculation that an Ultra model might return with the Xiaomi 19 series. That is not a confirmed product plan. An official Xiaomi announcement or a retail launch would be needed to establish the 18 Ultra’s status.

What could the Xiaomi 18 Ultra have been?
The reported specifications describe a hypothetical flagship, not a finished or announced Xiaomi product. DCS was reported as outlining a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration with a flagship chipset. One report mentions a benchmark score above 500 million but does not name the benchmark, so the number cannot reliably identify a chip or be compared with scores from a specified test.

The same reports mention a multispectral lens, a magnetic external lens, symmetrical dual speakers, and a flat display with narrow bezels. None of these details is confirmed by Xiaomi. Megapixel counts alone also do not establish image quality: sensor design, optics, processing, and real-world performance matter, and there is no released 18 Ultra to evaluate.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a documented product, unlike the rumored 18 Ultra. Xiaomi’s official launch materials describe a one-inch ultra-dynamic camera using LOFIC HDR and a Leica 200MP 75–100mm telephoto with mechanical optical zoom, alongside Leica APO optical design. The investor presentation records its China launch in December 2025 and overseas launch in February 2026.

Android Authority converted the leaked CNY 9,999 figure to approximately US$1,490. That is the outlet’s conversion, not an announced US price. Xiaomi’s investor presentation lists the 17 Ultra’s overseas starting price in euros; it should not be treated as a US price or directly equated with the China price. Xiaomi also notes that product models and sale dates can vary by region.

What should prospective buyers take from the reports?
- Treat the 18 Ultra’s cancellation as reported, not officially confirmed.
- Understand CNY 9,999 and the sustainable-sales explanation as claims attributed to DCS, not Xiaomi’s stated rationale.
- Regard the triple-200MP camera and other hardware as leak-based possibilities, not product specifications.
- For a real reference point, consult Xiaomi’s official information on the released Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone. Its documented features do not prove the rumored 18 Ultra design was finalized.
