Socure announced on October 24, 2024, that it had signed an agreement to acquire Effectiv for $136 million. Socure expected the deal to close in November 2024; it later said the acquisition had officially closed, but the reviewed announcement materials do not establish the exact closing date. Socure’s stated aim was to combine its identity verification and fraud services with Effectiv’s real-time risk decisioning and orchestration tools, extending decisions beyond account opening to payments and other ongoing customer events.
What did Socure acquire, and for how much?
Socure announced the $136 million agreement on October 24, 2024. Its announcement said it expected the acquisition to close in November 2024. Socure later reported that the deal had officially closed, without providing a precise close date in the reviewed materials. Socure’s announcement and its acquisition blog post establish the company’s account of the deal.
The $136 million figure is the announced acquisition value. It is not a valuation of Effectiv’s technology on its own or a measure of the combined platform’s performance.

What did Effectiv add to Socure?
Socure described Effectiv as a real-time decisioning and orchestration platform. Its capabilities include workflows and case management for identity and business verification, anti-money-laundering transaction monitoring, credit underwriting, and payment fraud detection. Effectiv was founded in 2021, according to Socure’s acquisition blog.

Decisioning software evaluates available information and applies configured rules or models to determine what action to take—for example, whether a transaction should proceed, be reviewed, or receive additional verification. Orchestration coordinates those steps and signals across workflows, rather than treating each risk check as a disconnected task. These descriptions reflect capabilities Socure attributed to Effectiv; the reviewed sources do not provide independent performance measurements for the combined platform.
Why did Socure say it wanted Effectiv?
Socure’s stated rationale was to apply identity and fraud signals across more of a customer’s relationship with a business. Identity checks often occur when someone opens an account, but risks also arise later: during login or authentication, payments, account recovery, and ongoing transaction monitoring. Socure said combining its identity verification and fraud services with Effectiv’s decisioning and orchestration would extend risk decisions across those events.

In the announcement, Socure CEO Johnny Ayers said the combination would provide a “single view of identity” for risk and trust decisions. That is the company’s strategic description, not independent evidence that the acquisition has delivered faster decisions, greater accuracy, or better fraud outcomes. Socure’s announcement also characterized the enterprise fraud detection market as worth more than $200 billion; that figure is Socure’s market framing, not an independently verified estimate.

A broader decisioning workflow can use identity information collected at onboarding alongside signals generated during later interactions. The intended benefit is a connected process: a business can assess a person or company when an account is opened, then evaluate later events such as a login, payment, account recovery request, or transaction that merits monitoring. Orchestration can route those events through configured checks and workflows, including review by a case-management team when appropriate.

Socure’s current Effectiv page says existing customers can continue to access and log in to the platform, as well as use its API documentation, while migration proceeds. Socure says customers will be notified about migration timing. Because transition arrangements can change, customers should check Socure’s current guidance and their own account communications for applicable dates and steps.

Socure’s company profile says it serves more than 3,000 customers, a company-reported figure accessed in 2026 that may change. It provides scale context, but does not establish how many customers use Effectiv or how the acquisition has affected customer results. Socure’s company page is the source for that current figure.
