MobileSyrup reviewer Dean Daley recommended the Meta Quest 3S in a review published February 12, 2025, praising its immersive games and entertainment. The review reported a starting price of $399.99 CAD at publication; that is a historical price, not a verified current offer. The same review also described limited battery life, awkward travel use, and dependence on Wi-Fi—trade-offs worth weighing before buying.
What drove the recommendation
Daley’s strongest case for the headset was the feeling of being inside a VR experience, particularly while playing Batman: Arkham Shadow. He described its embodied actions and first-person perspective as making VR feel worthwhile. That is the reviewer’s personal impression, not an independent performance test. (MobileSyrup, February 12, 2025)
The review also describes using the headset for Netflix and Crunchyroll, as well as Xbox Cloud Gaming with an Xbox controller. Those examples point to two distinct reasons to consider it: dedicated VR games and a large, immersive screen for viewing or cloud gaming. The review does not establish that every service or game performs equally well.

What the reviewer said about comfort, battery, and connectivity
Daley gives the headset’s weight as 514 g and says it remained wearable for sessions of roughly three hours. The review reports about two to three hours of battery life, but this is a personal observation rather than a controlled battery test. Meta’s later specification table gives an estimated battery life of about 2.5 hours; that manufacturer estimate is a separate figure with a different basis. For someone expecting long sessions away from a charger or reliable internet, those observations are relevant drawbacks.
Quest 3S specifications and how they compare with Quest 3
Meta’s device comparison, updated September 18, 2026, lists these Quest 3S specifications. They are manufacturer-published figures, not measurements from the MobileSyrup review.

| Specification | Meta Quest 3S | Meta Quest 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Display resolution per eye | 1832 × 1920 pixels | 2064 × 2208 pixels |
| Maximum refresh rate | 120 Hz | Not stated in the cited comparison |
| Field of view | 96° horizontal × 90° vertical | 110° horizontal; vertical value not stated in the cited comparison |
| Chipset | Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 | Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 |
| Onboard memory | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| IPD adjustment | Three preset positions | Continuous adjustment |
| Passthrough specification | Color stereoscopic passthrough | Color stereoscopic passthrough with a depth sensor |
The shared chipset and memory mean the comparison is not simply a question of processing hardware. The Quest 3 offers higher listed resolution, a wider horizontal field of view, a depth sensor for passthrough, and continuous IPD adjustment. The Quest 3S uses three preset IPD positions, so fit and visual comfort may matter as much as headline specifications when choosing between them. The cited comparison does not establish current retail prices for either headset.

Price context: the review’s $399 was not a current-price claim
MobileSyrup reported a $399.99 CAD starting price in its February 12, 2025 review. That figure describes the Canadian price reported at publication; it does not confirm what the headset costs now.

Separately, Meta’s October 15, 2024 developer post listed U.S. launch-era prices of $299.99 USD for the 128GB Quest 3S and $399.99 USD for the 256GB version. Those U.S. figures are from a different date and market, so they should not be treated as equivalent to the review’s Canadian starting price or as current offers. (Meta Horizon OS Developers, October 15, 2024)
Controllers, glasses, and prescription lenses
Meta lists Touch Plus controllers as included with the Quest 3S. Daley also reports that the headset supports hand input and says an Xbox controller connected for Xbox Cloud Gaming. The review notes that a glasses spacer is included and names Zenni Optical as a source for prescription lens inserts; it does not establish that inserts are necessary for every glasses wearer or provide current pricing for them. Who the recommendation is most useful for
- Consider the Quest 3S if immersive VR games are your priority and you are comfortable with the review’s reported battery range and Wi-Fi dependence.
- Compare it closely with Quest 3 if display detail, wider horizontal field of view, depth-sensor passthrough, or continuous IPD adjustment are important to you.
- Check current local pricing before deciding. Neither the review’s Canadian price nor Meta’s 2024 U.S. launch pricing establishes a current retail offer.
Daley summed up the review’s verdict this way: “The Meta Quest 3S is a stellar device, and for $399, I would definitely recommend it.” The quote expresses the reviewer’s opinion in the February 2025 article; its price reference is not a current guarantee. (MobileSyrup, February 12, 2025)
