JPMorganChase has deployed AI across a wide range of banking and investment operations, and the company reports substantial employee adoption and operational results. But the available evidence does not prove that it is the single “most AI-advanced” bank: there is no like-for-like comparison with competitors. Here’s what JPMorgan says it is doing, what the figures mean, and what remains unverified.
How much does JPMorgan spend on AI?
JPMorganChase has not disclosed an AI-only spending figure in the sources covered here. In her 2025 annual-report letter, published April 6, 2026, Chief Operating Officer Jennifer A. Piepszak said the company’s technology budget for 2026 was approximately $19.8 billion. That is the overall technology budget, not an amount earmarked solely for AI. Piepszak said JPMorgan had worked on advanced machine learning and AI for more than a decade, reporting benefits in credit, fraud detection, and personalization. She also described generative AI deployment at enterprise scale. The reported breadth and investment point to a major program, but do not by themselves measure AI spending or prove results independently.

Where is JPMorgan using AI?
Company leaders describe AI and machine learning across customer-facing services, internal work, transaction processing, markets, and investment management. These are company-reported deployments and examples, not an independent assessment of their performance.

Customer service and employee workflows
In its 2026 company update, JPMorgan said it was focusing on customer service, call-center efficiency, personalized client insights, and software engineering. The company also said its generative-AI use cases in production had doubled that year, without specifying a baseline count in the cited update. See the company-update materials.
JPMorgan describes LLM Suite as an internal generative-AI platform. Employees are moving beyond brainstorming and summarization, the company said, toward using internal APIs to connect generative-AI capabilities with business applications and everyday workflows. It is an internal platform, not a consumer chatbot offering described in these sources.
Commercial banking and transaction screening
In their 2025 annual-report letter, Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) co-CEOs Douglas B. Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh reported that more than 90% of CIB engineers used AI code assistants and more than 65,000 CIB colleagues actively used LLM Suite. Those figures apply to CIB, not necessarily to every JPMorgan employee.
The co-CEOs also reported that AI-assisted transaction screening allowed the bank to review more than twice the volume while halving the number of manual operator checks. The letter does not provide the underlying methodology or independent validation for those results. Read the CIB leadership letter.
Other examples cited by CIB leadership include a cash-flow forecasting tool for corporate treasury clients, intended to help with liquidity management, and AI in Prime Finance and markets to manage securities inventory, sharpen pricing, strengthen risk management, and improve capital efficiency.

Asset management and wealth advice
In her 2025 annual-report letter, Asset & Wealth Management CEO Mary Callahan Erdoes described SpectrumIQ, a proprietary suite embedded in the Spectrum platform that brings together research, data, and risk. JPMorgan reports that it covers about 90,000 securities and 22 million documents, and that it reduced the time from manual research to insight by 80%. The reported reduction is the company’s figure; the letter does not establish an independent measurement.
For wealth management, the letter describes Connect Coach, which uses 25 specialized AI agents to provide advisors with personalized outreach ideas. JPMorgan reports that it delivered one million AI-driven insights in real time to 5,000 global private-bank users. These counts describe the company’s reported use and reach, not proof that every insight led to a client interaction or outcome.
Proxy-voting research
JPMorgan says a SpectrumIQ stewardship workflow aggregates and analyzes proprietary data from more than 3,000 company meetings in U.S. equity markets. The company also says it was the first major asset manager to fully disengage from external proxy advisors in U.S. voting. That “first” description is JPMorgan’s claim, not an independently established ranking in the cited material. Read the Asset & Wealth Management leadership letter.
What do the adoption and performance figures establish?
The figures provide evidence of significant reported deployment and adoption within particular businesses. Their scope and limitations matter:
- Employee adoption: The more-than-90% code-assistant figure applies to CIB engineers; the 65,000-plus LLM Suite users are CIB colleagues. Neither is stated as an all-company adoption rate.
- Transaction screening: The doubled volume and halved manual-check figures are reported by CIB leadership. The cited letter does not describe a measurement method or independent evaluation.
- Asset-management research: The 80% reduction is JPMorgan’s reported change in manual-research-to-insight time for SpectrumIQ. The source does not give a comparison methodology.
- Wealth insights: The one million insights and 5,000 users are company-reported delivery and user counts, not measured client outcomes.
JPMorgan presents AI-ready data and well-governed data connections, with safeguards intended to protect clients, the firm, and the financial system. That describes the company’s stated approach; the sources do not independently test its safeguards.

Does this make JPMorgan the most AI-advanced bank?
It supports calling JPMorgan a large-scale, broadly deployed AI program. It does not establish that JPMorgan is more advanced than every other bank. The sources provide no consistent competitor data against which to compare deployment breadth, employee adoption, independently validated outcomes, AI-specific spending, or governance.
A meaningful “most advanced” comparison would need common definitions and evidence from at least two banks across those dimensions. For example, a technology budget cannot stand in for AI-specific spending, and an adoption percentage is difficult to compare unless the workforce denominator and business scope match. Without that evidence, “most AI-advanced bank” is best treated as the video’s thesis or an opinion, not a proven ranking.
How did JPMorgan’s AI program develop?
JPMorgan’s 2023 annual-report letter, published in 2024, reported more than 2,000 AI/ML experts and data scientists and over 400 predictive AI/ML use cases in production at that time. Those are historical figures, not current staffing or deployment totals. See the 2023 annual-report letter.
The company’s later descriptions emphasize generative AI alongside established machine-learning applications such as marketing and fraud detection. Taken together, the disclosures show how the firm characterizes the program’s expansion, but they do not supply a uniform time series or independent measure of its impact.

The principal company sources are JPMorganChase’s 2025 annual-report letters, published April 6, 2026, and its 2026 company-update transcript.
