If your Samsung dryer leaves clothes damp, first note any error code, then check whether the drum gets warm. No heat, weak drying, a cycle that ends too soon, and a cycle that runs too long point to different checks. Clean the lint filter and inspect airflow before assuming a part has failed. Exact controls, vent limits, and code meanings vary by model, so find the model code and use its manual for model-specific instructions.
Start with the symptom and any error code
Before changing settings or restarting the dryer, write down any displayed error code. Samsung says some codes indicate that service may be needed, and troubleshooting depends on the code. Check the Samsung dryer error-code guide and your model’s manual. Code spellings and meanings can vary across models.
Next, distinguish the main symptom: no heat, some heat but damp laundry, an unusually short cycle, or a cycle that takes too long. Samsung’s clothes-not-dry troubleshooting guide suggests using Time Dry, turning Eco Dry off, running the dryer briefly, and checking whether the air or clothes feel warm. Follow the instructions for your model, and do not treat weak heat by itself as proof that a heating element has failed.
If clothes are damp but the dryer gets warm
Clean the lint filter
Clean the lint filter before or after every load, as Samsung recommends. A clogged screen can restrict airflow and impair drying. Samsung describes the lint filter as “the first place where moisture might get blocked.”

Check Eco Dry and the selected cycle
On models with Eco Dry, that setting intentionally reduces heat to save energy; some models may use no hot air at the start of a cycle. It may also be enabled automatically for certain common cycles. Check the selected cycle and options on the dryer itself, because availability and behavior differ by model.
Consider the load and how it was washed
Clothes that enter the dryer soaking wet need longer to dry. Bulky items such as comforters may require a suitable cycle and more time than an ordinary load. Laundry may also remain damp after a steam-dry cycle; it may need to air-dry or finish in another cycle. These conditions do not, by themselves, show that the dryer is defective.

If the cycle ends unusually quickly
Check whether the selected cycle and options are appropriate for the load, and look for an error code before restarting. A cycle that stops early does not identify a failed component on its own. If the dryer is warm but the laundry remains damp, follow the airflow checks below; if it is not warm, use the no-heat checks instead.

Check for restricted exhaust airflow
A blocked lint screen, duct, or outside exhaust can reduce airflow and prolong drying. If your model supports a vent blockage test, run it exactly as described in the manual or Samsung’s vent blockage test instructions. Samsung lists clog indications including CLg, Cg, C80, and C90; the exact display and test availability vary by model. Some older models may not reduce heat when a vent is clogged, so passing or lacking a test is not a replacement for inspecting and cleaning the exhaust path.

Inspect the duct and exhaust path
Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice each year. Check that the duct is properly fitted and sealed, uses suitable duct material rather than plastic or foil, and is not kinked, flattened, or routed with unnecessary turns. The permitted duct length depends on the dryer’s model and installation. Samsung’s general guidance says each 90-degree turn reduces the maximum length by 6 feet; confirm the allowable configuration in your model’s manual rather than applying that figure without checking the model.
If cleaning is needed, a dryer-vent brush or cleaning kit can help with accessible parts of the duct. Do not disassemble the dryer or continue operating it if you suspect the exhaust is blocked. Use the manual or a qualified professional for work beyond safe, accessible cleaning.

If the dryer has no heat
Use Time Dry with Eco Dry off for a brief check, following your model’s instructions. What Samsung dryer error codes can indicate
Use the displayed code as a clue, not a component diagnosis. Samsung groups temperature codes such as tS, tC, and related variants as sensor or temperature issues; a clogged lint screen or vent is identified as a common cause. Heating codes such as HC, hE, HC4, and 1 HC are described as overheating-related. Restricted airflow is a common cause, though low voltage can also produce a heating error on some electric dryers.
In the vent test, CLg/Cg indicate a clog, while C80/C8 and C90/C9 indicate estimated blockage levels.
