Hideo Kojima says he is deliberately keeping OD under wraps: unlike his usual habit of releasing teaser after teaser, this time he wants to reveal little and stay quiet until the game is released. He also says the limited publicity does not mean the game has not been made.
Why is Kojima keeping OD quiet?
Kojima’s stated reason is simple: he wants to keep details back and release the game without the usual stream of teasers. In a report on episode 36 of his Koji10 radio show, GamesRadar+ quoted him saying, “I want to keep quiet and release it,” and, “I normally put out teaser after teaser. This time I don’t want to reveal much.”
That explanation describes a choice about what he shares publicly. It does not establish that secrecy is intended to build marketing buzz or serve some other strategy; Kojima’s reported comments do not give another reason.
Is OD still being made?
Yes, according to Kojima’s comments reported by GamesRadar+. He addressed the concern directly, saying, “This doesn’t mean we haven’t made the game.” He also said the team is developing OD while filming, so his decision to reveal less should not be read as evidence that production has stopped.

Filming had been underway since June and was expected to continue through the end of 2026; automated dialogue replacement work was expected to carry into 2027. These are production details attributed to Kojima in the October 5, 2026 report—not an announced launch schedule. They do not establish when OD will be released.
