Food critic Debra Coltune moved from Las Vegas to San Pietro, a small island off southwestern Sardinia, after first visiting in 2023. But San Pietro should not be described as a confirmed “Blue Zone” location: the Sardinian longevity area identified in the cited regional sources is inland Ogliastra and neighbouring communities.
Which island did Debra Coltune move to?
Coltune moved to San Pietro with her children, Aiden and Kaiya, and the family’s two dogs. She had first travelled there in 2023 to judge a local tuna festival. A CNN report published in 2026 described the community as having fewer than 6,000 residents; that is the report’s figure, not an independently verified population count.
The report says she relocated within a year of her visit. It does not provide further details about her life on the island after the move.

Coltune had spent more than a decade in Las Vegas and described feeling as though she was constantly hustling to stay ahead. Her account of San Pietro was markedly different: “The island fills me with such joy.” The report presents the move as a personal change of pace, rather than documenting a broader relocation plan or a specific health regimen.

Is San Pietro in Sardinia’s Blue Zone?
The available sources do not establish that San Pietro is part of the Sardinian Blue Zone. San Pietro lies off Sardinia’s southwestern tip, while the regional tourism authority identifies Ogliastra as one of the island’s five traditionally recognized Blue Zones. A local consortium describes the Sardinian Blue Zone as a compact group of inland communities in central-eastern Sardinia, including Ogliastra and neighbouring Barbagia—not the whole island.
The distinction matters: Coltune moved to San Pietro, but the cited sources place the Blue Zone context in inland areas. Calling San Pietro itself a Blue Zone island goes beyond what those sources support. The tourism materials describe local food and lifestyle traditions, but are not a direct review of the demographic research underlying the Blue Zone designation.

- Geographic qualification: San Pietro is off southwestern Sardinia; the sources place the Sardinian Blue Zone in inland Ogliastra and neighbouring communities.
- Not established: The cited material does not show that San Pietro is within the Blue Zone, give a primary longevity statistic, or describe what happened in Coltune’s life after the move.
