If calls still ring while your Samsung phone is in Focus mode, check Do not disturb call exceptions first. Samsung lets you allow calls from selected contacts or repeat callers; either exception can let a call through intentionally. If only one person’s calls ring, check that contact’s ringtone setting for Ring even when set to Vibrate or Mute.
Samsung’s menu names and paths vary by model, carrier, and software version. If a path below is missing, search for the named setting in the Settings app.
1. Confirm that Do not disturb is active when the call rings
On Samsung phones, the interruption setting most relevant to calls is Do not disturb. A Focus mode or routine may activate it, but first verify that Do not disturb is actually on at the time the call comes through.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings and look for Do not disturb. Alternatively, open Settings and search for Do not disturb.
- If you use a schedule, review its start and end times. Samsung notes that schedules can turn Do not disturb on or off automatically.
- If a Samsung mode or routine called Focus is involved, check whether it activates Do not disturb and review that mode’s configuration.
Samsung’s Do not disturb instructions explain that the mode can be scheduled and that available screens can vary by model and software.

2. Remove call exceptions that should not bypass quiet time
Do not disturb can allow selected people or repeat callers to ring through. That is usually the first setting to inspect when calls from some people get through but others do not.
- Open Settings and search for Do not disturb.
- Open the Do not disturb settings and select Allowed during Do not disturb.
- Open Calls and messages. Change the caller policy or turn off exceptions for people who should not be able to ring through.
Depending on the phone and software, call options may include selected contacts or repeat callers. Samsung India gives favorite contacts as one example of an allowed-call setting, but the exact choices are not identical on every Galaxy phone. Review message exceptions separately if you also want messages silenced.

- Open that contact’s ringtone or vibration settings.
- If present, turn off Ring even when set to Vibrate or Mute when you do not want that person’s call to ring.
The option may not appear on every model or software version. Samsung documents it in its ringing despite vibrate or mute troubleshooting steps.
4. Check ringtone and sound settings
If calls from all callers ring, or the exception checks do not explain the behavior, inspect the general sound settings. In Settings, open Sound and vibration and check whether the phone is set to vibrate and whether ringtone volume is raised. Samsung’s troubleshooting guide also suggests moving the ringtone slider to minimum as a check that the ringer is off. This is a sound-setting check, not a substitute for removing a Do not disturb exception that you do not want.

5. Use Settings search if the menu path differs
Samsung warns that available screens and settings can differ by wireless service provider, software version, and phone model. If a label or path above is not present, search Settings for Do not disturb, Calls and messages, or Ring even when set to Vibrate or Mute. Samsung’s support instructions provide the central Do not disturb guidance, while its troubleshooting article covers ringtone and contact-specific checks.
