The Galaxy S26 Ultra is best suited to buyers who will use its large screen, built-in S Pen, versatile camera system or new Privacy Display—and are comfortable with a large, premium-priced phone. If you want a compact handset, a lower-cost Galaxy, or will leave those features unused, compare alternatives before paying for the Ultra.

Who is the Galaxy S26 Ultra for?

Buy it if you want a large screen and an integrated S Pen

The S26 Ultra makes sense for people who regularly read, write, annotate documents or use stylus input on a phone. Samsung specifies a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The 6.9-inch figure measures the full rectangle; accounting for rounded corners, the screen measures 6.7 inches diagonally, and the camera opening and corners reduce the viewable area. Samsung’s launch announcement has the display details. TechRadar’s review describes the S Pen as an integrated feature that distinguishes the phone from other flagship models; that is a reviewer observation, not a claim that every buyer needs a stylus. Read TechRadar’s review.

Buy it if you use different camera perspectives

The rear camera setup offers a 200MP wide camera, a 50MP ultra-wide, a 10MP 3x telephoto and a 50MP 5x telephoto. Samsung lists 3x and 5x optical zoom. That range is useful to consider if you often switch between a broad scene, a standard view and more distant subjects; the specifications alone do not establish how the cameras compare in image quality with another phone. Samsung’s announcement lists the camera hardware.

Buy it if Privacy Display is useful to you

Samsung identifies Privacy Display as a new S26 Ultra feature. Its Q1 2026 interim report describes it as “the industry’s first Privacy Display,” which is Samsung’s own characterization rather than an independently verified industry-wide finding. Samsung’s Q1 2026 interim report names the feature.

Who should compare other phones?

Prefer a smaller or lighter phone?

The S26 Ultra measures 163.6 × 78.1 × 7.9 mm and weighs 214 g, according to Samsung’s Q1 2026 report. Those dimensions make it a substantial handset; if one-handed use, pocket comfort or low weight is a priority, handle it in person and compare smaller models before deciding. TechRadar describes it as thinner and lighter than the S25 Ultra and notes Samsung’s switch from titanium to Armor Aluminum; those are reviewer observations. Samsung’s report lists the S25 Ultra at 8.2 mm and 218 g.

Unlikely to use the S Pen, big display or camera flexibility?

If those features do not fit your routine, the Ultra’s main differentiators may not justify its premium for you. Compare the other Galaxy S26 models and phones in the same price range by the features you will actually use, rather than assuming the highest-tier model is automatically the best fit.

Shopping mainly on price?

Check the price at checkout for your country, storage tier and purchase terms. TechRadar reported a US launch starting price of $1,299.99. Tom’s Guide reported on October 1, 2026, that the US starting price had increased to $1,399 from $1,299; other variants have their own prices. These are dated US reports, not a current price guarantee or a guide to prices elsewhere. Tom’s Guide’s October 1, 2026 price report covers the reported increase.

What should you compare before buying?

Use the same market and storage tier when comparing prices. Check retailer promotions, trade-in terms and the actual checkout total, since a reported starting price does not establish what you will pay. For the phone itself, compare the display size and resolution, weight and one-handed comfort, integrated stylus, camera focal lengths and optical zoom, and whether Privacy Display matters to you.
