On the June 21, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown, Chelsea Green, Carmelo Hayes and Andrade won Money in the Bank qualifying matches. The men’s 2024 ladder match ultimately featured six wrestlers, but WWE’s recap does not say SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis invited six Superstars. That appears to conflate the six-person match field with a separate announcement by Aldis about extra security at the Chicago show.

Who qualified for Money in the Bank on June 21?

Three triple-threat qualifying matches took place on the June 21 SmackDown: one women’s match and two men’s matches. WWE’s episode recap reports these results:

Division Qualifying match Winner
Women Bianca Belair vs. Michin vs. Chelsea Green Chelsea Green
Men Randy Orton vs. Tama Tonga vs. Carmelo Hayes Carmelo Hayes
Men Kevin Owens vs. Grayson Waller vs. Andrade Andrade

How the matches ended

  • Green took advantage after Belair hit Michin with the K.O.D. and secured the women’s qualifying win.
  • In the men’s match, Owens neutralized Tama Tonga’s associate Tonga Loa, while Orton sent Tama Tonga to ringside. Hayes then pinned Orton with a roll-up.
  • In the other men’s qualifier, Andrade turned the action around after Owens and Waller collided while Owens was dealing with an injury.

Who were the six men in the 2024 ladder match?

WWE’s official men’s Money in the Bank match page lists six participants: Jey Uso, Andrade, Chad Gable, Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight and Drew McIntyre. Andrade and Hayes earned their places in the June 21 qualifiers; the six-person field should not be mistaken for six people Aldis invited on that episode.

What did Nick Aldis announce on SmackDown?

A contemporary Wrestling Inc. report said Aldis announced additional security for the Chicago venue and publicized a women’s qualifying match. It quoted him telling attendees, “If you are coming to the Allstate tonight, please be patient with us.” The report said the video announcement appeared on WWE’s X account. This security announcement is distinct from the eventual six-person men’s ladder-match lineup.

Don’t confuse the June 21 and June 28 qualifiers

The following week’s SmackDown had a separate round of qualifying matches. WWE’s June 28 recap lists Tiffany Stratton, LA Knight and Naomi as that episode’s winners. Those results are not part of the June 21 episode.

Where was Money in the Bank 2024 available to watch?

WWE’s event page originally listed Money in the Bank for Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, streaming on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network elsewhere. That is the event’s original viewing information, not confirmation that it remains available on those services now; check the relevant platform’s current catalog for archive access.

The June 21 SmackDown also included Drew McIntyre attacking CM Punk and Jacob Fatu attacking Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton after the main event. These were separate story developments from the Money in the Bank qualifiers.
