SailPoint appointed Levent Besik as chief product officer (CPO) on April 9, 2026. He leads the company’s product organization and reports to Chandra Gnanasambandam, SailPoint’s executive vice president of product and chief technology officer. SailPoint says the hire supports product innovation and growth, particularly as organizations work to secure and govern human, machine, and AI-agent identities.
What Besik will do at SailPoint
Besik is responsible for leading SailPoint’s product organization under Gnanasambandam. In its April 9 appointment announcement, SailPoint connected the role to product innovation and the company’s next phase of growth.

Besik said enterprises need tools to secure, govern, and protect AI agents end to end, and argued that identity security should cover AI across clouds and platforms. Those remarks set out his stated product emphasis; they do not establish what products or changes he will personally deliver.
Besik’s product leadership background
SailPoint’s announcement describes Besik as most recently vice president of product management for Microsoft’s Identity division, where he led the Human and Agentic Identity platform. The company also says he held executive product leadership roles at Okta focused on Customer Identity and at Google leading the Cloud AI platform and Solutions organization. These career details are based on SailPoint’s published account.
#1 Best Overall
Gnanasambandam said Besik’s experience, entrepreneurial mindset, and interest in product innovation made him suited to lead the product organization. That is the company’s rationale for the appointment, not an independent assessment of his record.
How the appointment fits SailPoint’s product strategy
Before naming Besik, SailPoint had described an adaptive identity strategy with four pillars in a March 9, 2026 announcement:
Rank #2
- Real-time governance
- Protection for AI and machine identities
- Universal and dynamic privilege
- Integrated threat management
The March announcement also said SailPoint planned a next-generation Access Certification engine and a Separation of Duties revamp for the second half of 2026. These were roadmap plans announced by the company; the announcement does not confirm that either item was subsequently delivered.
Other company announcements provide context for the strategy, but do not show that Besik personally led those initiatives. On March 16, SailPoint and AWS announced a multi-year strategic collaboration intended to expand identity governance for human and non-human identities interacting with AWS services. On August 4, SailPoint said its Agentic Fabric was generally available and positioned its broader offering around human and non-human identities. That availability and positioning are SailPoint’s claims, not independent evaluations of the product.
Rank #3
What the appointment does—and does not—show
SailPoint framed Besik’s appointment as a response to enterprise demand for identity security that can address AI agents alongside other identities. Its August 2026 release cited company research stating that 97% of AI agents have access to sensitive data and that 21% of organizations are highly confident in managing AI-agent security risks. Those figures are attributed to SailPoint research as reported by SailPoint; the release does not provide the underlying report or methodology, so they should not be treated as independently verified measurements.
The appointment announcement establishes Besik’s role, reporting line, and the experience SailPoint highlighted. It does not show that the hire has already produced business growth or demonstrate the effectiveness of SailPoint’s products. ITPro also reported the appointment on April 13, 2026, describing it as part of SailPoint’s identity-security growth effort: ITPro’s coverage.
