Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers is credited to Mark Edens and Ian Richter as its creators. The series overview names them as the creators of the franchise, and a film database listing also names them as the writers of the first film, Ignition. Both attributions come from secondary sources rather than a primary production-credit document, so the sections below separate what each source says from what remains unverified.
Who is credited as the creator
The available series overview lists Mark Edens and Ian Richter as the creators of Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers. It describes the four-film series as a 2005 production involving Mainframe Entertainment and Mattel Entertainment, with Warner Home Video as distributor. Those are the only creator and production roles the sources state directly.

Readers should treat this as a source-attributed credit. The sources reviewed did not include a Mattel, Mainframe, or Warner credit sheet, so the creator attribution is not independently confirmed by any of those companies. If you need to cite the creators, attribute the statement to the series overview.
Writers and directors of Ignition
Creator, writer, and director are different jobs, and the sources assign them differently. A film database listing for Ignition, the first film in the series, gives the following credits:
#1 Best Overall
- DVD
- Multiple Formats, AC-3, Animated

| Credit | Name(s) as listed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Creators (series) | Mark Edens, Ian Richter | Series overview |
| Writers (Ignition) | Mark Edward Edens, Ian Richter | Film database listing |
| Directors (Ignition) | Andrew Duncan, Gino Nichele | Film database listing |
| Production companies | Mainframe Entertainment, Mattel Entertainment | Series overview |
| Distributor | Warner Home Video | Series overview |
The film listing gives the writer’s name as Mark Edward Edens, while the series overview uses Mark Edens. The sources do not state the directors, writers, or credits for the other three films, so those cells should be read as not stated rather than as an absence of credits.
The four films
The series overview lists four films, released in 2005 across a window from January to October:
- Ignition
- The Speed of Silence
- Breaking Point
- The Ultimate Race
The overview presents the films as a continuation of Hot Wheels: World Race. The sources do not give the release date of each film individually, so the 2005 window is the most precise date available from them.
The Hot Wheels toy line behind the series
Mattel’s own product archive documents two AcceleRacers products. These records confirm the physical toys and their release and discontinuation years, and they are the strongest primary evidence in the available material.
Rank #3
AcceleRacers vehicle assortment (product G7784)
Mattel describes this as an assortment of 36 1:64 die-cast vehicles that perform on track and come packed with collectible trading cards. The archive lists it as released in 2005 and discontinued in 2006.
AcceleRacers AcceleDrome Track Set (product H3618)
This playset includes motorized loops, a turntable, team base stations, HyperPods, launchers, and a booster. Mattel’s page says it allows children to recreate scenes from the AcceleRacers movie. The archive lists it as released in 2005 and discontinued in 2006. The record does not establish whether the set works with current Hot Wheels track systems.

Buying AcceleRacers toys today
Both products are historical. Because they were discontinued in 2006, any copy you find now is a secondhand or collector item. Search for Hot Wheels AcceleRacers die-cast cars for the vehicle assortment, or AcceleRacers AcceleDrome Track Set H3618 for the playset. Check the listing’s condition, completeness, and photos before buying, and confirm the item is an original release rather than a later reissue. The sources do not establish current stock, resale prices, or where the films can be streamed or bought on disc.
