For Halloween 2026, the featured Villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley is Oogie Boogie, the trickster from Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. He arrives with the Season of Scares update. Zero, his ghostly dog, comes along as a companion, not a Villager. Jack Skellington and Sally are tied to the same film, but the 2026 patch notes don’t present them as limited-time Halloween unlocks.

“Halloween Villagers” isn’t a formal category in the official material. The accurate reading is that Oogie Boogie is the seasonal Villager of the 2026 event. Don’t count every character who gets a spooky outfit or skin as a Halloween Villager. The official September 21, 2026 patch notes describe Season of Scares as a six-week Halloween bash. Jack and Sally are also listed among the characters who can offer quests in the 2026 Valentine event, which shows they are established Valley characters, not Halloween-only arrivals.
How to unlock Oogie Boogie and Zero
Prerequisites
- Peaceful Meadow unlocked
- Scrooge McDuck’s Store unlocked
- Chez Remy unlocked
Steps
- Update the game to the Season of Scares version, announced for September 23, 2026.
- Investigate the strange mirror in Scrooge’s shop to start the first challenge.
- Complete all six weeks of Oogie Boogie’s challenges, including the final showdown.
- Welcome Oogie Boogie to the Valley. Zero becomes available through one of his quests.
Deadline
The challenge window runs from September 23 through November 4, 2026. The notes say that as long as you begin the first quest before November 4, you can unlock Oogie Boogie and Zero at your own pace. Starting late doesn’t lock you out, but not starting by then does.

How last year’s Trick or Treat worked
The 2025 event is a useful reference, but it is not the 2026 schedule. It used red, purple and green Candy Bowls. From October 15 to 30, two bowls of each color appeared every 24 hours, and on October 31 they appeared every hour. Each bowl gave two candies of its color, which you could eat or gift to complete event duties. Rewards included the Haunted Well, Jack-O’-Lanterns, Mickey Mouse Pumpkin, Pumpkin Stack, Trick-or-Treater’s Bounties and a craftable Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl. Check the in-game event details for 2026 mechanics before assuming they match.

Is Zero a Villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
No. The official notes call Zero a companion, not a Villager. He is unlocked through one of Oogie Boogie’s quests.

Do I need to unlock Jack Skellington and Sally through the 2026 Halloween event?
Nothing in the 2026 Season of Scares notes says so. They appear as event quest-givers in the 2026 Valentine event, so they are regular Valley characters.
