What does the 92% rating mean?
Notebookcheck reported 92% positive from 3,875 Steam reviews in an article published October 6, 2026. That is a dated snapshot, not a fixed or current guarantee of player satisfaction. Steam showed different figures when accessed October 7, 2026: 93% positive among 1,809 English-language reviews, and 91% positive among 479 recent reviews. Those counts cover different review populations and time windows, so the percentages are not directly interchangeable.

Is Whiskerwood worth buying in Early Access?
It may suit players looking for a colony builder built around production, logistics and settlement management, but a purchase comes with the uncertainty of an unfinished game. Steam cautions that Early Access titles may be incomplete and can change. The developers say: “The Early Access version is fully playable and has all the content and features described on the store page.” That is the developers’ description of the current version, not a guarantee that every planned feature is already present.
The developers have not set a date for leaving Early Access: “We don’t yet have a set date for exiting Early Access, instead we’re committed to ensuring we take the time needed to exceed expectations in enhancing and expanding the game.” Their stated plans include quests, additional goods and production chains, technology options, buildings, rebellion, combat and sea mechanics. Treat those as planned additions rather than features you can assume are in the game now.
