The Whirlpool ACM804BA is a four-zone, 60 cm induction cooktop listed by Whirlpool Australia. Its published specifications include 7.2 kW total power, touch-slider controls and a five-year manufacturer warranty, but CHOICE lists the model as discontinued. That makes verified stock, warranty coverage and installation fit more important than relying on an old review score.
What the Whirlpool ACM804BA offers
Whirlpool Australia describes the ACM804BA as a black-glass induction cooktop. Its four cooking zones have two different diameters and manufacturer-rated outputs:

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent tests of cooking speed or performance. Whirlpool lists total power at 7.2 kW. Its Australian product page also lists a touch slider, timer, automatic pot detection, child lock, residual-heat indicators, automatic switch-off and power management (Whirlpool Australia product page).
How to interpret the power ratings
A separate Whirlpool data sheet for the ACM 804/BA lists power-management limits of 2.5, 4, 6 and 7.4 kW, as well as booster and simmering functions (Whirlpool ACM 804/BA data sheet). The Australian product page gives a different total rating and zone figures. Treat each set of numbers as specific to its source and regional documentation; do not assume the data sheet’s settings apply to every ACM804BA sold in Australia. Confirm the exact model variant and instructions supplied with the cooktop before purchase or installation.

Induction transfers heat to compatible cookware rather than heating the cooktop surface in the way a conventional radiant hob does. Whirlpool describes this as heating the pan directly. That is the manufacturer’s explanation, not a measured efficiency or speed result for this model.
Will it fit your countertop?
Whirlpool Australia publishes product dimensions of 580 × 52 × 510 mm and cutout dimensions of 553 × 30–60 × 483 mm. The cutout figure specifies a depth range of 30–60 mm; check the product documentation and your counter construction rather than treating it as a universal clearance rule.

A nominal 60 cm width alone does not guarantee a fit. Before ordering, compare the opening and surrounding clearances with the current official installation instructions for the exact unit. The ACM804BA instructions cover installation and electrical connection, but safety-critical installation should be handled using Whirlpool’s current documentation and by a qualified installer.

Induction requires compatible cookware. Whirlpool’s available instructions recommend a magnet check: if a magnet sticks to the pan base, it is an indication that the pan may be suitable. Check each pan you plan to use before replacing cookware; compatibility can vary across a set, and the cookware maker’s guidance is also useful. The available ACM804BA instructions are hosted by a third party, so use the manual supplied with your appliance or Whirlpool’s current guidance for model-specific details (ACM804BA instructions).

Availability, warranty and review evidence
CHOICE lists the ACM804BA as discontinued and gives a five-year warranty listing; Whirlpool Australia also lists a five-year manufacturer warranty. Because the model is discontinued, a listing does not confirm that a seller has stock. Check that a unit is new or otherwise accurately described, that the warranty applies in your country and to that seller, and that service is available where you live (CHOICE listing).
CHOICE identifies the test year as 2023 or earlier, while the public listing withholds detailed performance scores for members. It therefore does not establish how the cooktop currently compares with models on sale, and there is no public score here to substantiate claims about boil time, reliability, satisfaction or running costs.

Who should consider the ACM804BA?
- It may suit you if you have confirmed the cutout and electrical requirements, want four induction zones in this size class, have compatible pans, and can verify a legitimate unit and applicable warranty.
- Look at currently available models as well if you cannot confirm stock, service or warranty coverage, or if you need current independent comparative results. Compare cutout dimensions, zone sizes and rated outputs, power limits, controls, safety features, cookware compatibility and local support rather than relying on the 60 cm label alone.
