For a Tears of the Kingdom replay, start by revisiting camera sensitivity and inversion, then check motion aiming, jump controls, the HUD, and minimap orientation. None has a universally best setting; adjust one at a time and keep what feels comfortable. Before changing anything, use the in-game System Menu to review controls and any Special Controls you have learned.
Review controls before changing settings
Press the + Button, then press R to navigate to the System Menu and review the controls. Nintendo says the Special Controls section shows advanced actions after you encounter them in the game; some Shrines of Light also teach controls. Options are available from the in-game menu or title screen, according to a third-party settings guide. Nintendo also documents the in-game path for the amiibo option: press +, use R to reach System Menu, then choose Options. Nintendo amiibo instructions.

Use these as a short personal check, not a prescribed preset. The listed defaults below are reported by a third-party settings guide; confirm the current values in your own Options menu, since defaults may depend on game version or region. TheGamer’s settings guide.

Camera sensitivity and inversion
If camera movement feels sluggish or overly quick after a long break, make a small sensitivity adjustment and see how it feels while exploring and fighting. The guide reports Normal sensitivity as the default, but there is no objectively best value established here.
Vertical and horizontal inversion are personal preference. If you already know which direction feels natural, restore those axes first rather than trying to adapt while also changing other controls. The guide reports both inversion options disabled by default.

Motion aiming and jump controls
Motion aiming lets you make fine bow adjustments by moving the controller. Keep it enabled if that feels helpful; turn it off if the movement distracts you. The settings guide reports motion aiming enabled by default.

HUD and minimap orientation
Choose the HUD according to how much information you want visible. A fuller display keeps status and navigation cues on screen; a reduced display may suit you if you prefer less visual clutter. The settings guide reports the HUD set to Normal by default.
Minimap north-lock changes the map’s orientation. Keep it off if you prefer the map to turn with your direction of travel, or enable it if a fixed north helps you orient yourself. The guide reports north-lock disabled by default. These are navigation preferences, not established performance improvements.

Message-window transparency and voice language
Adjust message-window transparency if the text is hard to read against the background, and choose the voice language you prefer for the game’s presentation. The guide reports Normal transparency and English voice language as defaults.
Amiibo, if you use it
Amiibo is optional rather than a necessary replay setting. If you want to use amiibo, enable it under System Menu > Options before activating the amiibo ability. Nintendo describes an additional save slot for a new adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. That feature is specific to the Switch 2 Edition; Nintendo warns that the second save file created there cannot be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch version. Check the edition and save-transfer limitation before choosing it for a separate replay. Nintendo Switch 2 Edition product page.
Do not assume that the additional slot is available in the original Switch edition. Nintendo’s U.S. store lists a physical version of the original game for Nintendo Switch. Nintendo U.S. store: original Nintendo Switch version.

- Open the System Menu and refresh your memory on the controls and learned Special Controls.
- Adjust camera sensitivity and inversion to match your familiar aiming and camera preferences.
