For a South Korean IP address, choose a VPN that clearly offers a selectable South Korea or Seoul location; for travel, prioritize a full-device app and a kill switch. Neither a Seoul endpoint nor a VPN subscription guarantees access to a particular bank, government website, or streaming catalogue. The options below are drawn from published comparisons and provider descriptions, not hands-on testing.

Start with what you need the VPN to do

  • Get a South Korean IP address: Confirm that South Korea or Seoul appears as a selectable location in the app. A provider’s location listing indicates an endpoint, but not that every service will accept the resulting connection.
  • Protect traffic on travel Wi-Fi: Look for a full-device app and a kill switch. A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server; a kill switch is designed to stop traffic if that tunnel disconnects. It does not make you anonymous to a service where you are signed in.
  • Use Korean streaming services abroad: Treat this as uncertain. A Korean IP is not a promise of access; check the service’s current terms and keep a valid account.
  • Connect several devices: Compare the simultaneous-device limit and the subscription’s full renewal terms, not just the promotional price or server count.

VPN options with South Korea locations

VPNOnline’s comparison, updated July 22, 2026, lists Seoul locations for NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and CyberGhost. Its reported device allowances are 10 for NordVPN, 10–14 depending on ExpressVPN tier, and seven for CyberGhost.

These are figures from one publisher’s comparison, not independently verified product specifications. VPNOnline’s price equivalents were checked July 16, 2026, and represent introductory long-plan amounts normally paid upfront before tax; renewal may cost more. Since no usable price figures are established here, compare the current total and renewal price in each provider’s checkout before subscribing. VPNOnline’s South Korea VPN comparison

NordVPN: a general-purpose option in one comparison

VPNOnline names NordVPN as its overall recommendation and reports a Seoul location and a 10-device allowance. Those are that publisher’s editorial assessment and reported plan details, not a guarantee of performance or acceptance by Korean services.

ExpressVPN: a provider-described South Korea route

VPNOnline lists ExpressVPN as its premium alternative and reports 10–14 simultaneous devices depending on tier. ExpressVPN’s South Korea page says its VPN routes traffic through the selected country and that users can obtain a South Korean IP address. That is the provider’s description, not an independent test. ExpressVPN’s South Korea page

CyberGhost: a lower-cost pick in one comparison

VPNOnline describes CyberGhost as its lower-cost option and reports seven simultaneous devices. The comparison’s introductory long-plan pricing should not be treated as a recurring or current total; check the provider’s checkout and renewal terms.

Proton VPN: consider the provider’s stated endpoint and privacy features

Proton VPN’s South Korea page reports eight servers in Korea, 10 Gbps server capacity, and more than 20,000 servers in over 140 countries. Proton also says its service supports AES-256 or ChaCha20 encryption, perfect forward secrecy, and a strict no-logs policy. These are vendor-reported figures and claims, not independent confirmation of current capacity or privacy practices. Proton VPN’s South Korea server page

Will a VPN let you watch Korean streaming services abroad?

Not necessarily. VPNOnline reports that TVING says its series, films, and live services cannot be used overseas at rights holders’ request. It also summarizes Wavve paid-service terms effective April 16, 2026, as saying content conditions may differ by provider and country because of licensing, regional copyright, and business territories. These reports do not establish whether a particular title or connection will work today. Check the service’s current terms and account requirements before relying on a VPN for access. Set up a VPN before traveling

  1. Choose a provider whose app lists the location you need, such as South Korea or Seoul, and check its current device allowance and renewal terms.
  2. Install the official app and sign in before departure. InfoSouthKorea recommends installing before travel; having the app ready avoids depending on hotel or airport Wi-Fi for setup. InfoSouthKorea’s travel guide
  3. Enable the kill switch if available, then connect to a VPN server before using shared Wi-Fi for sensitive activity.
  4. If a local banking or government site rejects the connection, disconnect the VPN and try again only if the service’s guidance and your security needs allow it. Such rejection is a practical possibility, not a universal rule.

A travel eSIM is a separate way to obtain mobile connectivity, not a VPN and not evidence of privacy protection. No particular eSIM plan or provider is established here.
