For an existing workstation or server, choose a Wormhole PCIe card; for a ready-integrated system, consider a TT-QuietBox or TT-LoudBox. The right choice depends on model memory needs, whether you need one or several accelerators, and whether your host can provide the required power, cooling and airflow. Tenstorrent introduced this Wormhole developer-kit family on July 18, 2024.
Compare the Wormhole options
| Option | Hardware and memory | Best fit | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wormhole n150d / n150s | One Wormhole ASIC, 12 GB GDDR6, 288 GB/s memory bandwidth and 160 W total board power, according to Tenstorrent’s Wormhole specifications. | Entry-level or moderate single-card development. | A compatible host PCIe slot, EPS12V power and adequate cooling. The d model is actively cooled and recommended for desktop use; the passive s model needs suitable chassis airflow. |
| Wormhole n300d / n300s | Two Wormhole ASICs, 24 GB GDDR6, 576 GB/s memory bandwidth and 300 W total board power, according to Tenstorrent’s Wormhole specifications. | Development that benefits from more memory per card or experiments spanning multiple chips. | Plan for the greater power and thermal load. The d model provides active cooling for desktop use; the passive s model depends on chassis airflow. |
| TT-LoudBox | Four n300s cards: eight Wormhole processors and a 96 GB memory pool, with an Ethernet mesh for multi-chip development, according to Tenstorrent’s product page. | Team development or work that needs a larger multi-card environment. | It is a dedicated workstation rather than an add-in card; account for its footprint and multi-card networking. |
| TT-QuietBox (Wormhole) | A pre-integrated, liquid-cooled desktop. The cited product information does not state a comparable card count or memory-pool figure. | A quieter, turnkey desktop setup. | Confirm availability and the exact configuration with Tenstorrent before purchase. |
Tenstorrent’s cards catalog lists the n300d at $1,449 and the n300s at $1,399. These are catalog prices and may change; verify the price and ordering details before buying.
Choose by workload and setup
Pick an n150 when a single card is enough
An n150 is the lower-capacity, lower-board-power card in this lineup. It suits development where its 12 GB of onboard memory is adequate and you want to add an accelerator to a compatible machine rather than buy a complete system. The memory figure is card capacity, not a promise that every model or workload will fit: actual fit depends on the model, software support and how the workload uses memory.
Pick an n300 when you need more per card
The n300 has twice the onboard memory and a second Wormhole ASIC compared with the n150. That makes it the more suitable card to consider when model capacity or multi-chip experimentation exceeds what an n150 can accommodate. It also has a higher board-power and cooling burden, so check the host before treating the larger card as a simple drop-in upgrade.

Pick a workstation when integration is the priority
TT-QuietBox and TT-LoudBox are pre-integrated systems, while PCIe cards are for adding acceleration to an existing workstation or server. The LoudBox is the clearly specified option for a multi-card environment; the QuietBox is positioned as a liquid-cooled desktop. Do not infer that the QuietBox has the LoudBox’s processor count or memory pool—the available product information does not establish that equivalence.
Check what your host needs
For a PCIe card
- Confirm that the workstation or server has a compatible PCIe slot and the required EPS12V power connection. The cited specifications do not give a full motherboard compatibility list, so verify the exact host and card combination with Tenstorrent.
- Allow for the card’s stated total board power in the system’s power budget, in addition to the CPU, storage, fans and other components. The board-power figure is not a recommended power-supply wattage.
- Plan cooling around the card variant and case. The d versions have active cooling and are recommended for desktop use; the s versions are passively cooled and require a chassis airflow plan.
- For an n300, pay particular attention to power delivery and heat management because its total board power is higher than the n150’s.
For a pre-integrated system
A QuietBox or LoudBox reduces the work of assembling a multi-card host, but it does not eliminate purchase checks. Confirm the system’s exact configuration, availability, physical fit and any requirements Tenstorrent specifies for the intended installation.

Plan for Tenstorrent’s software stack
Tenstorrent supports open-source TT-Forge for higher-level AI development and TT-Metalium for lower-level programming closer to the hardware. Your choice depends on how much control you need: start with the higher-level tooling for model-oriented work, and look to TT-Metalium when you need to work nearer the hardware. Check Tenstorrent’s software documentation for supported models and the setup instructions that match the card or system you intend to use.

Understand Wormhole’s place in the product line
Wormhole is the generation before Blackhole, but it is not described as abandoned: Tenstorrent says Wormhole cards and hardware remain supported and available, and its documentation describes broad validated model coverage. That is useful context for development, but it is not a guarantee that every model, software feature or future release will work identically across generations. If you are starting a new deployment, compare the current support and availability information for the exact hardware and software you plan to use.
