The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G and vivo T5x 5G make different spec-sheet trade-offs: the A17 5G pairs a Super AMOLED display with main-camera optical image stabilization, expandable storage, and Samsung’s stated software-support commitment; the T5x 5G lists a larger battery, faster charging, a higher-refresh LCD, and a higher-resolution selfie camera. Which matters more to you: AMOLED and Samsung’s update policy, or the T5x’s larger rated battery and faster charging?
Samsung Galaxy A17 5G vs vivo T5x 5G: specifications

Which phone has the better display?
The A17 5G has the Super AMOLED panel; the T5x 5G has the higher listed refresh rate. Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch FHD+ screen with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz, while vivo lists a 6.76-inch 2344 × 1080 LCD with up to 120Hz. AMOLED and LCD are different display technologies, and a refresh-rate figure alone does not establish which screen looks better overall.

That gives the A17 5G the explicit main-camera OIS specification, while the T5x 5G has the higher listed selfie-camera resolution. Megapixel counts and camera features do not establish which phone takes better photos; no independent camera comparison is available here.
Durability and software support
Water and dust resistance
Samsung lists IP54 resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus on the A17 5G’s front. vivo lists IP68/IP69+ protection for the T5x 5G. These are manufacturer claims and different protection ratings; they do not amount to a guarantee against all damage or conditions.
Rank #4
Update commitments
Samsung says the A17 5G receives six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. That is Samsung’s stated policy, not an independently verified comparative finding. The T5x 5G’s cited vivo page lists Android 16 with OriginOS 6 but does not state an equivalent support-duration promise, so the available information does not establish a like-for-like commitment.

Price difference: what the published prices establish
Samsung’s India launch announcement, dated 3 September 2025, set these Galaxy A17 5G prices:
- 6GB/128GB: ₹18,999
- 8GB/128GB: ₹20,499
- 8GB/256GB: ₹23,499
These are historical launch prices, not a statement of today’s retail price. A reliable current price difference cannot be established from the available listings: retrieved vivo shop results showed conflicting prices, while Samsung’s purchase page displayed changing variant prices and offers. Do not compare unlike configurations or treat an offer as a standard price.
To determine the live gap, compare the same RAM and storage configuration at the same time, and check seller, stock status, and offer conditions on both listings. The cited pages are vivo’s online shop offers, vivo’s T5x 5G product page, and Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G purchase page.

- Choose the Galaxy A17 5G for its listed feature set if Super AMOLED, main-camera OIS, microSD expansion, lower listed weight, or Samsung’s stated update duration is most important to you.
- Choose the vivo T5x 5G for its listed feature set if a larger rated battery, faster rated charging, a 120Hz maximum refresh rate, or a higher-resolution front camera matters more.
- Make price the deciding factor only after checking live, matching variants. The documented Samsung figures are launch prices from 2025; the available vivo shop results do not support a dependable current price-gap claim.
These are specification-based trade-offs, not hands-on recommendations. No verified independent battery, camera, gaming, or performance tests establish a winner beyond the features each manufacturer lists.
