Three new releases stood out in Newzoo’s August 2026 PC and console revenue rankings: Madden NFL 27 debuted at #2 on console, Star Wars Zero Company reached #6 on PC, and Big Walk ranked #3 on PC. The chart also showed established games and ongoing content performing strongly, including Pokémon Pokopia, which climbed 21 places to #7 on console after its Bubbly Basin expansion launched.
What Newzoo’s August rankings show
Newzoo’s August 2026 PC & console rankings, published September 28, 2026, cover estimated revenue positions for PC and console games. The rankings are powered by Newzoo’s Game Performance Monitor and are placements—not exact revenue amounts, unit sales, or sales counts.
The results point to two patterns at once: established franchises, expansions, and live-service ecosystems were prominent in revenue, while several recent releases also landed near the top of their respective charts. Newzoo’s analysis distinguishes those revenue patterns from engagement gains associated with partnerships, media tie-ins, and distribution initiatives.
Which new games ranked highly?

Big Walk is a notable exception to the broader prominence of familiar franchises and ongoing content: an original concept still reached #3 on the PC revenue chart. Newzoo says it launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

How expansions and live-service games performed
Pokémon Pokopia climbed after an expansion launch
Pokémon Pokopia rose 21 places to #7 on the console revenue chart after the launch of Bubbly Basin. Newzoo identifies Bubbly Basin as the first of three DLC releases included in the Expansion Pass.
Live-service titles held high PC positions
Valorant ranked #2 on PC, while Apex Legends ranked #10. Newzoo links the prominence of live-service games to updates and their ongoing ecosystems, rather than treating these placements as evidence of a particular sales or revenue total.

Revenue rankings are not engagement rankings
Newzoo’s analysis separates what helped games attract engagement from what was prominent in revenue. Partnerships, media tie-ins, and distribution initiatives helped expand reach and engagement; revenue positions were concentrated around established franchises, expansion content, and live-service ecosystems. The high placements for Big Walk and Star Wars Zero Company show that new releases could also make a mark, but the rankings do not establish that new games displaced those longer-running sources of revenue.
