Start with your exact GoPro model, then choose accessories for the job: handheld framing, fixed shots, audio expansion, flotation, power or protection. GoPro’s accessories catalog lets you browse by camera and activity, but compatibility varies by product—check the individual listing before buying.
How to choose GoPro accessories
- Identify the exact camera. Note its full model name, not just the HERO family. Use the camera filters in GoPro’s accessories catalog, then confirm that the product’s own compatibility list includes your camera.
- Decide where and how you’ll shoot. GoPro organizes mounts around activities such as cycling, diving, hiking, travel and motorsports. Use those categories to find relevant mount types, then choose based on the camera position and framing you need; the categories do not establish that one mount performs better than another.
- List the specific problem to solve. Do you need a handheld grip, a stable place to set the camera, better audio, extra mounting points, flotation, a power connection or physical protection? Buy for that need rather than assuming one accessory is essential for every setup.
- Check the live listing for your market. Compatibility and availability can differ by product and region. Confirm both before ordering.
For handheld framing and a tripod: GoPro 3-Way 2.0
GoPro describes the 3-Way 2.0 as a three-in-one grip, arm and tripod. That makes it a flexible option if you want to switch between holding the camera, positioning it on an arm and setting it down for a stationary shot.
It is not a universal must-have: its value depends on whether you will use those configurations. Check the product page’s compatibility details for your camera before purchase.
For audio and accessory expansion: Media Mod
The Media Mod is a camera-specific expansion option, not a necessary add-on for every GoPro owner. GoPro lists compatibility with HERO13 Black, HERO12 Black, HERO11 Black and HERO10 Black. Its listed features include a directional microphone, a 3.5 mm microphone input, HDMI-out and two cold-shoe mounts.

Consider it if those audio connections or mounting points fit your setup; if you do not need audio or accessory expansion, it may not add useful value. GoPro’s product page calls it a “production powerhouse” for vlogging, live streaming and expansion. That is promotional product language, not an independent performance assessment.
For water use: flotation and camera-specific checks
Floaty is an example of a flotation accessory, but compatibility is model-specific. A regional GoPro catalog listing associates Floaty with HERO13, HERO12 and HERO11. Treat that as a lead to check the current listing—not proof of fit for other models or availability in every country.

For power access: check the exact door fit
A USB Pass-Through Door can address a need for a power connection while the camera is set up, but the door must match the camera. A regional GoPro catalog listing names HERO13, HERO12 and HERO11 for this accessory. Confirm your exact camera and local listing before buying; the regional listing does not establish universal compatibility.

For activity mounts, protection and other add-ons
Use GoPro’s accessories catalog and mounts catalog to browse by camera and activity, then narrow the choice by mounting location and the shot you want. A cycling mount, a hiking setup and a diving mount solve different positioning needs; an activity label alone is not a comparative performance test.
