Ting has listed one flip phone that matches what most buyers want to check: the TCL Flip 5, model 4056W, which appears on Ting’s Hearing Aid Compatibility page with M4 and T4 ratings. That listing is not a stock check and not a guarantee that a particular unit will activate. Inventory changes, and compatibility is decided by the exact handset. Before you buy any flip phone for Ting, run that phone’s IMEI through Ting’s compatibility checker.
Which flip phones Ting has listed
Ting’s public pages name two flip models. They serve different purposes, and only one of them is a realistic option for a new purchase.
| Model | What Ting’s pages say | Stock and compatibility status |
|---|---|---|
| TCL Flip 5 (model 4056W) | Listed on Ting’s Hearing Aid Compatibility page with M4 and T4 ratings under the 2011 ANSI standard. Ting describes the table as covering current or recent phones. | Ting warns that its inventory changes, so the listing does not show the phone is available today. Confirm the exact unit by IMEI. |
| NUU F4L | Product page on Ting’s shop describes a 4G LTE flip phone with VoLTE support. | Marked out of stock and unavailable on Ting’s shop as of 2026. Treat it as an older reference listing, not a recommendation. |
When comparing any flip phone for Ting, judge it on five points: whether the IMEI passes Ting’s checker, whether VoLTE is supported, whether the unit is currently in stock and unlocked, whether it has the hearing-aid ratings you need, and whether its display, battery, charging, and functions fit how you will use it. A model name alone answers only the hearing-aid question.

How to check a specific flip phone before you buy
- Find the IMEI of the handset you plan to use. On most flip phones, dial *#06# from the keypad. You can also read it from the label on the battery compartment or the original box.
- Open Ting’s compatibility checker on Ting’s website and enter the IMEI.
- Read the result for that exact unit. A matching model name with a different IMEI cannot be assumed to pass.
- If the checker shows a maintenance notice or does not respond, try again later rather than assuming a result. Ting’s compatibility page also promotes nationwide 5G coverage, but a coverage claim describes the network, not whether a given flip phone supports the features you need.
- Only after a passing result, confirm stock and purchase the unit.
What VoLTE means for a flip phone on Ting
Ting’s VoLTE help page explains that Voice over LTE carries calls over the LTE data network rather than older voice channels. Ting says this can make call audio clearer, lets you use data during a call, and connects calls faster. Two conditions apply. Availability depends on device support, and Ting describes VoLTE as available only on its GSM network.

- A “4G LTE” label on a flip phone does not prove that voice calling works on Ting. Treat LTE and VoLTE as separate checks.
- Confirm VoLTE support for the exact handset and service, either through the IMEI check or by asking Ting support with the IMEI in hand.
- If a phone connects to data but calls fail to connect or drop, VoLTE support on that handset is the first thing to verify.
The NUU F4L listing: what it does and does not tell you
Ting’s shop page for the NUU F4L lists a 2.8-inch internal display, a 1.77-inch external display, a 1,350 mAh battery, 4 GB of memory, a nano-SIM slot, micro-USB charging, and an Android operating system. These are the specifications shown on Ting’s page in 2026. They have not been independently tested for this article.
The listing is useful for seeing what a VoLTE flip phone’s specification sheet looks like, and the micro-USB port is worth noting if you already own newer USB-C chargers. It is not a buying option, because Ting marks the product out of stock and unavailable.

Buying from Ting versus buying elsewhere
- Directly from Ting’s shop: Ting says phones bought from its shop are compatible with its service and include the SIM needed for activation. This is the lowest-friction route, but only when a suitable model is actually listed as in stock.
- From another seller, new or used: The model name does not settle compatibility. Run the IMEI through Ting’s checker before paying, and confirm the phone is not locked to another carrier.
- Second-hand units: These carry the most risk. A unit’s IMEI can be missing from the checker’s result even when the model appears on Ting’s lists, so ask the seller for the IMEI in writing and check it yourself.
Choosing a plan for a flip phone
Ting’s help pages describe unlimited talk and text across its plans. Flex is pay-per-use shared data. The data-inclusive plans give each device its own high-speed allowance, and after that allowance is used, you can top up or continue at reduced speeds. Flip phones usually consume far less data than smartphones, so a pay-per-use approach can suit light users, but the right choice depends on how much data you actually use. Plan prices and allowances change, so check Ting’s current plan page before you decide.

Quick Recap
Troubleshooting common problems
- The checker reports that the IMEI is not compatible: Do not buy that unit. Verify the IMEI on the handset itself, since a typo or a label from another device is a common cause.
- The model appears on Ting’s hearing-aid table but is not for sale: The table is a rating reference, not a stock list. Look at Ting’s shop for current availability.
- The phone activates but calls fail: Confirm VoLTE support for that exact handset and contact Ting support with the IMEI.
