For most players, buy the Standard Edition. It gives you the base Call of Duty game at the lower listed price. Buy the premium Vault Edition only if you specifically want its bundled operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and DMZ Deployment Bonus—and those extras are worth an additional $30 to you.
The question often says “Standard vs. Deluxe,” but Vault Edition is the current official name for the premium package. “Deluxe” is not the current product name used on the publisher and storefront listings. Vault is digital-only, while physical console copies are Standard editions.
The short answer: Standard is the sensible default
Choose Standard when your priority is simply playing the new Call of Duty release, when you prefer a disc, or when cosmetic and mode-specific extras do not justify paying more. US Xbox and Steam listings in 2026 show Standard at $69.99.
Choose Vault when you already know you want every listed bundle item: the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack, Special Forces Operator Pack, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and a DMZ Deployment Bonus. The US Vault price is $99.99, making the premium $30 before tax or any promotion.

There is no separate campaign, multiplayer game, or base-game version exclusive to Vault in the published package descriptions. Both editions provide the same underlying game. Vault changes what is bundled around that game, not the fundamental release you are buying.
Standard vs. Vault at a glance
| Edition | Listed US price | Included content | Best for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $69.99 | Base game | Players who want access to the game at the lowest listed price; buyers who want a physical console copy | Does not include the Vault bundle items |
| Vault Edition | $99.99 | Base game; Hostile Alliance Operator Pack; Special Forces Operator Pack; Signature Weapon Collection; one season of BlackCell; DMZ Deployment Bonus | Players who specifically value the listed digital extras | Digital-only according to Activision |
| Vault Edition Upgrade | $30.00 | Store-listed upgrade from Standard to Vault | Standard owners who later decide the bundle is worth the premium | Check platform eligibility and ownership requirements before purchasing |
US Xbox and Steam listings in 2026 show these prices; they are not guaranteed worldwide prices. Taxes, currency conversion, regional pricing, discounts, and storefront changes can alter the amount you see at checkout.
What you get with Standard
The complete base game
Standard is the straightforward purchase: it supplies the base game without the additional Vault bundle. If your buying decision is driven by campaign access, standard multiplayer or cooperative play, and the normal launch package, this is the edition to start with.
The available package descriptions do not identify a gameplay mode or core feature that is removed from Standard and reserved for Vault. That makes the $30 difference a question of extras rather than access to a different version of the game.
The physical-console option
Activision identifies physical console editions as Standard. Its edition and support information specifically describes a physical Xbox Series X Standard Edition and physical console availability through selected retailers. If you want a disc for resale, lending, collection, or use in a console with limited storage, shop for Standard.
A physical copy should not be assumed to contain Vault content. The publisher describes Vault as digital-only, so a retailer listing for a disc should be treated as Standard unless the product page explicitly says otherwise and matches the official edition terms.
When Standard is the better financial choice
Standard is the better fit if you are unsure how much you will play, if you rarely use operator cosmetics, or if you prefer to decide after launch. Paying $69.99 preserves $30 that can remain unspent until you know whether the premium items matter to you.

Standard is also the lower-risk choice for households buying more than one copy. The official package descriptions provide no objective cash valuation for the Vault items, so there is no evidence-based reason to assume that multiplying the bundle across several accounts automatically creates better value.
What Vault adds
Vault includes the base game plus six named categories of digital content. The storefront descriptions establish what is included, but they do not establish an independent cash value for each item. Consider these benefits according to your own play habits rather than treating the $30 premium as a guaranteed saving.
Hostile Alliance Operator Pack
This is one of the two named operator packs in Vault. Operator content generally affects character presentation rather than providing a separately listed base game. The package description confirms its inclusion but does not state the number of operators, skins, or any gameplay effect, so do not infer details that are not shown on your purchase page.
Special Forces Operator Pack
The second named operator pack is the Special Forces Operator Pack. It is bundled with Vault in addition to the Hostile Alliance pack. If you already know that these particular operator themes are important to you, their inclusion can justify the upgrade; if you would not equip them, they should not influence your decision.

Vault also includes a Signature Weapon Collection. The official listing confirms the collection but does not provide a per-item count or an objective monetary valuation in the listing. Check the live platform description for any updated contents before paying the premium.
One season of BlackCell
The bundle includes one season of BlackCell. “One season” is a defined allowance, not a promise of unlimited future BlackCell access. The listing does not establish which season will apply in every purchase circumstance, whether timing changes the entitlement, or what individual rewards that season contains. Verify the current store wording and season terms when you buy.
DMZ Deployment Bonus
The final named item is a DMZ Deployment Bonus. The package description confirms the bonus but does not quantify its duration, inventory, or gameplay impact. Treat it as a mode-specific extra: it matters most if you intend to play DMZ and value the listed benefit.

Is the $30 Vault premium worth it?
The arithmetic is simple: $99.99 minus $69.99 equals $30. The difficult part is assigning value to digital items whose individual prices and usage are not established in the official package descriptions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| If this describes you | Reasonable choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want the game and nothing else | Standard | You avoid paying for extras you may never use. |
| You want a disc | Standard | Activision identifies physical console editions as Standard and Vault as digital-only. |
| You specifically want both operator packs | Vault | The packs are included only in the premium bundle described here. |
| You play DMZ regularly and want the listed deployment bonus | Vault, if the bonus matters to you | The bonus is part of Vault, but its exact effect should be checked in the live listing. |
| You are undecided about BlackCell | Standard first, or verify the upgrade path | BlackCell is one season, and the practical value depends on your timing and preferences. |
| You are buying on a strict budget | Standard | The $30 difference is the entire premium before tax and discounts. |
Do not buy Vault because you expect a guaranteed resale advantage, a faster progression system, or a stronger competitive position. None of those benefits is established by the edition descriptions. The supported case for Vault is personal enjoyment of the named digital extras.
Digital versus physical: decide this before choosing an edition
Choose physical Standard when you need a disc
- You want to lend or resell the game.
- You prefer a boxed copy for your collection.
- You want the option to install from a disc rather than relying entirely on a digital entitlement.
- You are shopping for Xbox Series X or PS5 physical availability through a retailer.
Physical availability is platform- and retailer-specific. Activision says physical editions are available for preorder on Xbox Series X and PS5 through selected retailers and identifies a physical Xbox Series X Standard Edition. Confirm the exact console version, region, and included disc before placing an order.
Choose digital Vault when you want the bundle
Vault is the digital-only route described by Activision. Digital purchase can be convenient if you switch between installed games, do not use discs, or want the bundled extras attached directly to your platform account. It does not provide a physical copy simply because the price is higher.
Do not confuse a retailer label with the official edition
Retail pages sometimes use “deluxe,” “premium,” or abbreviated names in search results. Match the product code and content list against the official Standard or Vault description. A physical disc labeled as a premium package should be investigated carefully because the publisher’s stated physical format is Standard and Vault is digital-only.
Can you start with Standard and upgrade later?
Both Xbox and Steam listings show a $30 Vault Edition Upgrade. This creates a useful middle path: buy Standard if you are uncertain, then consider the upgrade after you have decided that the bundle is worthwhile.
- Open the store page for the platform on which you own Standard.
- Look for the listing named Vault Edition Upgrade rather than purchasing the full Vault Edition again.
- Confirm that the account owns an eligible Standard entitlement and that the upgrade applies to your platform and region.
- Review the exact contents and price shown at checkout. The listed $30 amount can change with regional pricing, taxes, discounts, or store updates.
- Complete the purchase only after checking which Vault items are granted and whether any timing conditions apply to the BlackCell season or DMZ bonus.
The existence of an upgrade listing does not guarantee that every platform, disc entitlement, account type, or region can use it. Treat the store’s eligibility message as authoritative at the time you buy.

Release date and platform timing
Activision and Xbox identify October 23, 2026 as the release date. The US Steam listing displays October 22, 2026. Storefront dates can reflect platform, regional, or local-time display conventions, so do not assume that one date universally overrides the other.
Before preordering, open your own platform’s listing and check the release time, region, and edition-specific delivery information. If you are coordinating a group across Xbox and PC, the date shown on each account may differ even when the publisher describes the launch as October 23.
Xbox Game Pass: do not assume launch access
Activision’s Xbox preorder page says the game will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. This statement is scoped to Xbox and to launch timing. It does not establish what may happen later, nor does it make a claim about other platforms or subscription services.
If Game Pass availability affects your purchase, check the current Xbox listing close to release and compare it with the edition you intend to buy. Do not cancel a preorder on the assumption that a later subscription addition is guaranteed.

“I only want to play the new game.”
Buy Standard. Nothing in the published comparison indicates that Vault changes the base game. The lower listed price gives you the intended core purchase without paying for optional extras.
“I collect physical games.”
Buy the physical Standard Edition for your console, subject to local retailer availability. Vault’s digital-only status means it is not the appropriate choice for a disc collection.
“I know I will use the operator packs.”
Buy Vault if both packs are important enough to justify $30. You are paying for the Hostile Alliance and Special Forces packs together with the other listed extras, not for a different base game.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
“I mainly play DMZ.”
Vault is worth considering because it includes a DMZ Deployment Bonus. Check the live listing for the bonus’s exact terms and decide whether that benefit matters over the period you expect to play.
“I want BlackCell, but I am not sure when I will start.”
Read the current season and entitlement wording before buying. Vault includes one season of BlackCell; the package information does not promise every season or define how a delayed purchase affects the entitlement.
“I might regret paying extra.”
Start with Standard and investigate the $30 upgrade on your platform. This approach keeps the initial cost lower while preserving a possible route to Vault, provided the store confirms that your ownership and platform are eligible.

“I am buying for someone else.”
Confirm the recipient’s platform, region, and preference for digital or physical ownership. A digital Vault purchase may be unsuitable for someone who expects a disc, while a physical Standard copy will not automatically deliver Vault extras.
Preorder and checkout checklist
- Confirm the edition name: the premium product is Vault Edition; “Deluxe” is the reader-facing shorthand, not the current official SKU name.
- Check the platform: Xbox, Steam, PS5, and physical-console listings can have different prices, dates, and delivery formats.
- Check the price in your region: the $69.99, $99.99, and $30 figures are US listings observed in 2026.
- Check the format: physical console copies are Standard; Vault is digital-only.
- Read the content list: verify the two operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection, one BlackCell season, and DMZ Deployment Bonus.
- Check timing: Activision and Xbox show October 23, 2026, while Steam shows October 22, 2026 in the US listing.
- Check subscription assumptions: Xbox’s preorder page says the game is not on Game Pass at launch.
- Save your receipt and entitlement details: this is especially important if you may use a later Vault upgrade.
Common buying mistakes
Paying Vault prices for a Standard disc
A physical console listing should be checked against the included-content list. Because Activision identifies physical editions as Standard, a disc does not become Vault merely because a retailer uses a premium-sounding label.
Assuming every digital item has a known cash value
The official descriptions name the inclusions but do not assign independent prices to them. Avoid claims that the bundle “saves” a specific amount beyond the straightforward $30 difference between the editions.
Assuming Vault changes competitive gameplay
The listed additions are operator packs, a weapon collection, one BlackCell season, and a DMZ bonus. The edition information does not establish a universal gameplay advantage, so choose based on the extras you actually want.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Ignoring platform-specific dates
The one-day difference between the Activision/Xbox date and Steam’s displayed date should be checked on your own storefront. Plan downloads, time off, and multiplayer sessions around the listing attached to your account.
Assuming Game Pass will cover launch access
For Xbox, the publisher’s preorder page says the game will not be available on Game Pass at launch. Treat any future subscription change as unconfirmed until Xbox or Activision updates the listing.
Final buying recommendation
Standard is the right answer for the majority of buyers: it is the lower-priced way to get the base game, and it is the physical-console edition. Vault is a targeted upgrade for players who place real value on the Hostile Alliance and Special Forces Operator Packs, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and the DMZ Deployment Bonus. With US listings showing a $30 premium, buy Vault for those specific extras—not because it is a different or inherently better base game.
