Start with adaptive brightness, a shorter screen timeout, and your phone’s Battery Usage screen; then selectively restrict apps whose background activity you do not need. Use Battery Saver when extra runtime matters more than immediate background activity, and consider a lower or adaptive refresh rate only if your phone offers the option. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 does not guarantee a particular menu, setting, or battery-life gain: those depend on the handset maker, display, and software version.
Which battery and performance settings should you change on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 phone?
Try the low-risk display settings first, then use Battery Usage to find what is actually consuming power before changing app behavior. Menu names and paths vary by manufacturer, so search Settings for terms such as “Battery,” “Battery Usage,” “Brightness,” or “Refresh rate” if the labels below do not match your phone.
- Enable adaptive brightness, or reduce brightness to a comfortable level. A bright display can use substantial power, though the screen may still need higher brightness in a bright environment. Android recommends reducing brightness as a battery-saving measure: Android Help: Get the most life from your Android device’s battery.
- Shorten screen timeout to a period that suits how you use the phone. This turns the display off sooner when you leave it idle; setting it too short can interrupt reading.
- Check Battery Usage when battery drain seems unusual. Look for the apps or features using the most power, then investigate those rather than applying broad restrictions. A high entry identifies consumption, but does not by itself show that an app or phone is faulty. Android also lists display brightness, background apps, connectivity, and location among possible battery drains: Android: Why is my phone battery draining so fast?.
- Keep the phone’s default battery optimization enabled. Restrict background activity selectively only when it is not needed. Such limits can delay notifications or interfere with work an app performs in the background.
Make one change at a time and observe Battery Usage and your normal experience. The cited official sources do not provide a controlled, comparable estimate of extra hours or a percentage saved for these settings on a specific Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 handset.

When should you use Battery Saver?
Turn on Battery Saver when extending runtime is more important than having every app and service work immediately in the background—for example, when the battery is low or you need the phone to last through a long day. Depending on the phone, Battery Saver may restrict background activity, network connections, visual effects, features, or apps, and some activity may be delayed. Android’s documentation describes these trade-offs, but the exact behavior depends on the device: Android Help: Get the most life from your Android device’s battery.

- Designed to Be Repaired, Not Replaced: The Fairphone Gen. 6+ is built around a 12-part modular design, so you can swap the battery, screen, speaker, or cameras yourself with just a screwdriver instead of replacing the whole phone. It's backed by a hardware warranty of up to five years and software support through 2033.
- Smooth Performance, Serious Durability: Powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and 12GB RAM, keeping apps fast and multitasking smooth. The 120Hz OLED display makes scrolling feel buttery, not choppy, and Gorilla Glass 7i plus IP55 splash-resistant means it can handle what your last phone couldn't. There's 256GB built in (expandable up to 2TB), so you're never trading photos for space.
- Less Noise, More You: Fairphone Moments lets you switch between full Android and a distraction-free mode with up to five essential apps of your choice. Working, traveling, or spending time with the people who matter - you decide what shows up on your screen, and what stays out of reach.
- A Phone That Matches Your Values: The Fairphone contains 51% fair and recycled materials by total weight, is assembled using renewable energy, and supports living wages for factory workers. Robust everyday performance, without pretending the supply chain doesn't matter.
- US Carrier Compatibility: This Android smartphone supports AT&T and T-Mobile, and supported MVNOs on those networks. It is not supported on Verizon or Verizon-network MVNOs. 5G speeds require a 5G-enabled SIM/eSIM and supporting data plan, and availability varies by carrier and location.
If your phone offers a Battery Saver schedule or an automatic activation threshold, use it only if that timing fits your routine. The control and available options vary by manufacturer and software version.
Should you lower the display refresh rate?
If your phone has a refresh-rate control, try its adaptive mode or a lower rate when battery life matters more than the smoothest scrolling and animations. Choose the smoother option when responsiveness is your priority. The screen and software determine whether the control exists and what rates are available.

Android 15 includes platform support for adaptive refresh rate, but a phone maker must implement the feature and choose how it behaves. That support does not establish that every Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 phone has adaptive refresh rate or exposes the same menu. See the Android Open Source Project documentation on frame rate.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIs there a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 performance mode to change?
Do not assume there is a universal Snapdragon performance switch. Qualcomm describes Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0 as managing thermal and power dynamics during gaming; that is a platform capability, not proof of one user-facing setting available on every phone. The manufacturer decides how chipset capabilities are implemented. Qualcomm also cautions that results vary with OEM implementation and other factors: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 product brief.

For gaming, leave the phone’s normal thermal management in control unless its manufacturer or game offers a clearly explained mode. A mode that favors performance may involve different power or thermal trade-offs; consult the phone maker’s instructions before changing it. Gaming itself is a demanding workload, so a chipset feature description is not a promise of a specific battery result.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What else can you check if the battery drains quickly?
- Use Battery Usage to identify the leading app or feature, then decide whether its activity is expected and useful.
- Turn off location or connectivity services only when you do not need them; disabling them can also disable functions. Use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data where practical.
- Install available software updates if appropriate, and use the phone maker’s support instructions for exact settings and menu paths.
- If a particular app is an unnecessary background user, restrict it selectively and check whether notifications or other expected behavior change.
Battery optimization and adaptive battery behavior are manufacturer-specific. For example, Google says of Adaptive Battery and battery optimization on Pixel phones, “These settings are on by default.” That statement applies to Pixel guidance, not necessarily to other Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 phones. Google also notes that Pixel Adaptive Battery may reduce performance and delay notifications, and that a new or reset Pixel can take a few weeks to learn usage: Google Pixel Help: Make your Pixel battery last longer.
