Disney+ is the main streaming destination for Star Wars movies and shows. Disney identifies the service as the dedicated home for the franchise, and the official StarWars.com viewing guide points to its expanding Disney+ collection. The catalog includes the Skywalker Saga, theatrical spin-offs, animated and live-action series, documentaries, shorts, specials and vintage titles.
Availability is not identical everywhere. Streaming rights, bundles and release windows depend on country and can change. In the United States, Disney+ may be purchased on its own or in a bundle that also provides Hulu and ESPN content inside the Disney+ app. Hulu has occasionally carried selected films for limited periods, but it is not a dependable substitute for the full Star Wars library. Individual movies may also be rented or purchased through digital storefronts such as Amazon, Apple/iTunes and Google Play, subject to local listings.
Where can I watch Star Wars?
Start with Disney+. It is the broadest single subscription option identified by Disney and StarWars.com. Open the service in your country, search for the exact film or series, and confirm that the title appears in your local catalog before subscribing or starting a marathon. Disney states that both content and platform availability can vary by region.
Disney+: the principal Star Wars home
Disney+ organizes Star Wars content into several useful groups rather than presenting only the main films. Depending on your territory, the service may show:

- Animated series and the The Clone Wars film
- Documentaries, behind-the-scenes programs, shorts and specials
- Vintage Star Wars programming and other archive material
The service’s Star Wars collection also provides a timeline view and sections for movies, series, animation and documentaries. Those categories are helpful when you want more than the nine core films, but they do not remove the need to check your country’s catalog.
Hulu: a United States bundle and occasional window
For U.S. subscribers, Disney says Disney+ can be used as a standalone service or through bundles. Bundle customers can access Hulu and ESPN offerings in the Disney+ app. That arrangement does not establish that every Star Wars title is on Hulu.
TechRadar reported a limited Hulu window for four films before Star Wars Day in May 2026. Treat that as a dated exception, not a permanent catalog promise. If you are looking for a particular movie, search Hulu on the day you plan to watch it and verify the listing in your account’s region.

Digital rental or purchase
Tom’s Guide has reported that Star Wars movies can be rented or purchased individually through Amazon, iTunes and Google Play. This is useful when you need one film and do not want another subscription, but a secondary report cannot guarantee that every title is listed in every country. Before paying, check the exact edition, rental period or purchase terms, resolution, subtitles and the storefront’s access rules.
A current title example: The Mandalorian and Grogu
Lucasfilm’s homepage reported that The Mandalorian and Grogu was available digitally, on 4K Ultra HD and for streaming on Disney+. That status was current when checked on October 13, 2026. New releases and digital windows change quickly, so use the title page in your territory as the final check.

How to check a title before you pay
- Identify the exact title. Include the season or episode for a series and distinguish similarly named programs such as The Clone Wars film and series.
- Search the service in your own territory. Use Disney+, Hulu if you are in the United States, or the digital store you normally use. Do not rely on a result from another country’s web page.
- Open the title details. Confirm that the page offers streaming, rental or purchase rather than merely displaying a trailer, related program or unavailable listing.
- Check the terms shown on that page. Look for advertising, resolution, subtitles, audio languages, rental expiry and whether a bundle is required.
- Recheck recent releases. A film can move from theatrical or digital sale to subscription streaming, or leave a temporary service window, without the older search result changing.
What order should I watch the Star Wars movies and shows in?
StarWars.com publishes both release order and chronological order. The guide explicitly says, “Whichever order you choose…is the right one!” Release order preserves the way audiences encountered the saga in theaters. Chronological order follows the fictional timeline and adds series where they fit in the story.

Release order: follow the franchise’s debut history
The release-order list begins with Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), followed by the rest of the original trilogy, then the prequel trilogy. It continues through The Clone Wars film and series, later spin-offs and series, the sequel trilogy and newer productions, reaching The Mandalorian and Grogu in the guide’s 2026 list.
For a film-focused release run, use this sequence:
- Star Wars: A New Hope
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
- The Phantom Menace
- Attack of the Clones
- Revenge of the Sith
- The Force Awakens
- Rogue One and Solo as the theatrical spin-offs, placed according to the official release list
- The Last Jedi
- The Rise of Skywalker
The complete official release list also interleaves animated and live-action series, shorts, specials and documentaries by their original debut. Use that version when you want to experience the franchise as its audiences did rather than watching only the films.

Chronological order: follow the in-universe timeline
The official chronological sequence starts with The Acolyte, moves through the prequel-era stories and animation, then reaches the original trilogy, the stories set around The Mandalorian, and the sequel trilogy. It is the better fit if you want events to unfold in fictional time instead of production history.

Three chronology traps to expect
- Tales is an anthology. Its episodes span a wide stretch of Star Wars history instead of sitting in one single year. If you want strict chronology, place individual episodes where the official timeline puts them rather than watching the anthology as one block.
- Andor and Star Wars Rebels overlap. Both occur during the rise of the rebellion and lead toward Rogue One. Watching one complete series before the other is convenient, but it is not a claim that the stories are separated by a clean chronological boundary.
- Resistance crosses the sequel-trilogy starting point. It begins before The Force Awakens and continues after that film, so a strict timeline may require moving between the series and the movies.
Which viewing plan fits you?
If you are new to Star Wars
Choose release order. Beginning with A New Hope preserves the original reveal structure and gives you the context in which the franchise was created. Add series after the films when you want more history or character development.
If you only have time for the movies
Watch the nine Skywalker Saga films in release order, then add Rogue One or Solo as optional spin-offs. This gives you a complete film narrative without requiring a series subscription marathon.

If you want the broadest story
Use Disney+’s official Star Wars collection and follow the chronological guide, accepting that anthology episodes and overlapping series will not fit into a perfectly linear queue. This route includes animation, live action, documentaries and specials that release order alone can hide.
If you need only one title tonight
Search Disney+ first. If it is unavailable in your territory or you do not want a subscription, compare the exact title on a digital rental or purchase store. Check the listing immediately before payment because storefront rights and prices can change.
Common availability problems and fixes
The title appears in an article but not in your app
The most likely explanation is a regional rights difference or an expired window. Search while signed into the account and country where you will watch. A U.S. Hulu report, for example, does not establish availability in Canada, the United Kingdom or any other market.

A bundle provides access to the Hulu service; it does not guarantee that every Star Wars title is hosted there. Search Disney+ directly, then check Hulu’s current title page. If neither lists the film, look at the a-la-carte storefronts.
You find several versions of the same film
Compare runtime, edition label, resolution, audio and subtitle options before choosing. Digital stores may show HD and 4K versions separately, while a subscription service may offer only the formats supported by your device and plan.
A recent release has conflicting status reports
Prefer the current Lucasfilm or Disney title page for your territory over an older entertainment article. The reported October 2026 status of The Mandalorian and Grogu illustrates why: digital sale, 4K disc and streaming availability can coexist, but each window can change independently.
