Rebellion and the recap films
The available United States evidence does not establish one current subscription home for every film. Netflix has pages for both Rebellion and Madoka Magica the Movie Part III: Rebellion under its catalog, but each page displays a country-availability notice. A catalog page therefore proves that Netflix carries a title record, not that the film is watchable in every country or on every plan. Check the playback message after signing in:

- Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part II: Eternal — the remainder of the television narrative in recap-film form.
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part III: Rebellion — a new story that follows the TV ending.
The announced streaming dates do not by themselves establish availability for Walpurgisnacht Rising, which is a separate sequel film.

The official film site describes Walpurgisnacht Rising as a continuation of Rebellion. Consequently, watching Rebellion first is the safest way to understand the sequel’s starting point. A theatrical date is not a streaming date: after the cinema run, allow for a separate announcement covering digital rental, purchase, physical media, or subscription streaming.
The best viewing order for a first-time viewer
Recommended main-story order
- Watch the 2011 TV series. It introduces the characters, rules, and central mystery in the order originally intended for television.
- Watch Rebellion. It follows the original series and adds a new continuation rather than merely repeating the episodes.
- Watch Walpurgisnacht Rising when you can access it. The official site positions it after Rebellion, so seeing the earlier film first avoids missing important context.
Film-only alternative
If you prefer movies or cannot access the episodes, watch Beginnings followed by Eternal. Together they recap the TV series. Then proceed to Rebellion. The recap films are an alternative route through the television story, not extra chapters that must be inserted before every episode.

The notice describes the standard Blu-ray as containing Japanese and English audio with English and Spanish subtitles. That announcement confirms that a physical edition was released; it does not verify current retailer stock, today’s price, a particular seller’s condition, or compatibility with your disc player. Before buying a used or imported copy, check the region code and the exact subtitle list printed for that edition. A disc purchased in another market may not play on a region-locked player even when the film itself is identical.

“The title appears, but I cannot play it.”
This normally indicates a country-rights restriction, an expired license, or an account-location mismatch. Confirm your billing country and test the service without a travel connection or location-changing tool. If the service still shows an availability notice, use another legally listed option for your territory rather than assuming the page will unlock later.

The films and episodes are licensed separately. Search for the series under its full title and check episode count, then search each film by its individual title. In Japan, consult the official catalog’s separate entries instead of treating one provider’s film listing as evidence that it carries the episodes.

Announcements can precede local catalog activation, and a date reported for one country may not apply elsewhere.
