Where you can watch The Matrix movies depends on your country and the individual film. Check each title in a country-specific availability guide, then compare subscription and ad-supported streaming with rental, digital purchase, and physical media. Listings change, so treat the services below as dated examples rather than a promise of current access.
Which Matrix movies should you look for?
For a film-focused watch-through, look up these five screen titles: The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), The Animatrix (2003), and The Matrix Resurrections (2021). The first three make up the original feature-film trilogy; The Animatrix is an anthology of nine animated shorts. A straightforward first-time watch order
- The Matrix

Release order is the simplest route for a first viewing. The animated shorts do not all sit in one simple place in the story timeline, so a chronological viewing requires treating their segments individually rather than placing the whole anthology at a single point.

For another concrete example of title-by-title variation, the UK JustWatch page for The Matrix Reloaded listed HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon Channel, and Now TV Cinema in its October 7, 2026 snapshot: check the UK listing. In India, JustWatch’s October 6, 2026 franchise guide showed three of the five screen titles available on JioHotstar and marked The Animatrix unavailable to stream in that snapshot. That is not evidence that it is unavailable in other countries: see the India guide.
How to find the right version and access type
- Set your country first. Use an availability guide configured for the country where you will watch; a service’s catalogue in another market is not a reliable guide to yours.
- Search each film separately. Check all five titles you want to see, rather than assuming a service carrying the original also carries the sequels or The Animatrix.
- Read the access label. A title may be included with a subscription, available with ads, or offered only to rent or buy. Those are different offers, even when shown on the same listing page.
- Compare format and playback details. Where the listing provides them, check video format, audio, language and subtitle options. For a disc, verify the edition, region compatibility, and that your player supports it.
- Confirm the current offer with the provider. Listings, stock, prices, and catalogues can change; check the service or seller before paying.
Rental or digital purchase can be alternatives when a subscription does not include a particular film. Physical editions are another route: the US listing snapshot showed DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD Blu-ray offers for The Matrix, but availability of a particular edition depends on local stock and compatibility.

Do not count on a VPN as a way to unlock another country’s Matrix catalogue. Netflix’s official guidance says that when viewers use a VPN, they can access only shows and movies for which Netflix has worldwide rights; it also notes viewers may need to turn the VPN off to see titles available in their region. Netflix explains VPN viewing limitations.
VPN-provider guidance also does not amount to a guarantee that a stream will work. ExpressVPN’s streaming guide, last updated July 24, 2026, advises connecting to a server in the country where the user is currently located. It says using its service to circumvent geographic restrictions imposed by content providers is prohibited under its Terms of Service. If you are travelling, check what your existing streaming service permits while you are away and follow that service’s terms. For ordinary availability checks, use the catalogue for your actual location, not a location-spoofing workaround.
