For a traditional Mahjong Solitaire game you can play in a browser without installing an app, start with Arkadium’s Mahjongg Solitaire. Arkadium describes its games as browser-based and requiring no download. You can also play its traditional version through Mahjong.com. For other pacing options, Mahjong.com lists an untimed game with 366 levels and a separate version with a 15-minute limit. Game-page details may vary, so open the rules on your chosen page and check whether it loads on your device and in your location.
Where can you play Mahjong Solitaire online for free?

The Mahjong.com pages use similar names, so check the selected page’s title and rules before starting. The labels “Mahjong” and “Mahjong Solitaire” do not guarantee identical rules.
What is Mahjong Solitaire?
Mahjong Solitaire is a single-player puzzle: clear a tile layout by removing matching pairs. It is not the traditional multiplayer game of Mahjong. Arkadium describes its original game as using 144 face-up tiles arranged in layouts.

How matching works
A tile is free when it is not covered and at least one side is open. You can remove a matching pair only when both tiles are free. Removing pairs can uncover tiles and open or block later choices, so the available moves change as the layout clears.
What should you check before playing?
- Timer: Mahjong.com’s Mahjong page says it has no time limit; its Solitaire Mahjong page specifies a 15-minute limit.
- Hints: Arkadium’s page and Mahjong.com’s timed Solitaire Mahjong page describe a hint feature.
- Shuffles: The Mahjong.com page for Arkadium’s traditional game says there are no shuffles.
- Rules and controls: Read the help or instructions on the exact game page, since features and mechanics differ between versions.
