On an Insignia Fire TV remote covered by the cited guide, press the button labeled Menu for on-screen contextual commands. On the cited Insignia Roku TV, use the directional pad and OK to navigate; during many playback situations, * opens an Options menu. If you mean a button on the TV itself, check the guide for your exact model—there is no confirmed universal location across Insignia TVs.
First, identify your Insignia TV platform
Insignia TVs use different platforms and remote layouts, so the brand name alone does not tell you which control to press. Check the remote for its labels or the TV’s model information before following platform-specific directions.
- Fire TV: The cited Insignia guide shows a dedicated Menu button.
- Roku TV: The cited DR420-series guide describes navigation with the directional pad and OK, plus contextual playback options through the * button.

Find Menu on an Insignia Fire TV remote
Look for the button labeled Menu on the remote illustrated in the Insignia LED TV User Guide. The guide says it “Activates on-screen contextual commands.” The remote diagram shows Home and Settings as separate controls; neither is the Menu button.

What appears after you press Menu depends on the screen or content you are viewing. If your remote does not match the guide, confirm the TV model and its manual rather than assuming the button layout is identical.

The asterisk control is contextual, not a universal Menu button for every screen or every Roku TV model. As the guide puts it, “The menu you see varies depending on what you are doing with your Insignia Roku TV.”
Looking for a button on the TV itself?
The cited guides do not establish a single physical Menu-button location for all Insignia TVs, or that every model has a dedicated Menu button on its cabinet. Do not rely on general claims that it is always beneath the logo or on one particular side.

- Find the TV’s model number on its product label or in its documentation.
- Open the user guide for that exact model and look for its controls or buttons section.
- Follow that guide’s instructions for any controls attached to the TV.
If the remote is missing or does not match
Start with the TV’s exact model number and identify its platform before choosing a replacement remote. A remote’s appearance or the Insignia name alone does not establish compatibility. Check the replacement’s compatibility information against your model.
