In The Ghost in the Portrait, the five Zero Essence appear only after you water five Zero drawings in Scrooge McDuck’s Store’s Mirror Lair. Check the right-hand window display, the staircase, the right-side furniture table, the skeleton display by the vault, and the stacked dice opposite the skeleton. Collect all five, craft Real Ghostly Paint Thinner, add it to your Royal Watering Can, then water the Haunted Portrait again.

All five Zero drawing locations
Look for the drawings or motifs at these spots. Water each one; a Zero Essence appears on the ground to collect.
- Right-hand window display: inspect the display on the right side of the room.
- Behind the right side of the staircase: check around the stairs carefully; this is an easy spot to overlook.
- Right-side furniture display table: look over the table displaying furniture on the right.
- Behind the skeleton display beside the vault door: check behind the display, not just the visible area in front of it.
- Stacked dice opposite the skeleton display: inspect the dice across from the skeleton.
The item-location reference lists these five positions. If you have found four, revisit the staircase and display areas and make sure you have watered each motif; the essence appears after watering. Zero Essence locations.
