For early silver in Subnautica 2, search caves and crevices around the Old Habitat and colony ruins, especially north of the Lifepod. Pick up small silver nodes by hand; larger deposits require the Sonic Resonator. Treat exact distances as rough guideposts: published routes differ, so follow landmarks and inspect cave walls, floors and nearby cliffs.
Where to find silver early
Start around the early Old Habitat or colony-ruin area. Caves below the Old Habitat are reported to contain copper, silver and titanium, while other guides point to caves north of the Lifepod. Green glowing flora near cave entrances is one visual clue to watch for.

Guides disagree about how far north to travel. GamesRadar describes an early cave route roughly 400–500 meters north of the Lifepod; another guide suggests caves about 200–250 meters north or north-northeast and cliffs south of the Lifepod, while stating that its route was not independently verified in-game. These are guide-reported directions, not official coordinates. Use the caves, ruins and flora as landmarks rather than relying on a precise distance.

- Search cave interiors and crevices, including the ground where Necrolei grow.
- Check nearby cliff faces and walls as well as the cave floor.
- Collect small silver nodes by hand. Bring the Sonic Resonator for larger blocks that cannot be harvested by hand.
Where to look later
As you explore farther, guides report silver-rich crevices in Root Canyon and Dolerite Spires, as well as larger deposits around the Power Plant area. One location reference gives example depths of 95, 220, 370, 380 and 420 meters for crevices in Root Canyon and Dolerite Spires. Those are guide-listed examples, not independently measured spawn depths, and locations may vary by build.

Save silver for useful progression
Silver is used for air tanks and electronics, including wiring kits. Prioritize oxygen and progression needs before spending it on optional crafting. The game reference page attributes this first-collection message to the fictional in-game PDA: “Silver is a superb conductor and a key ingredient in air tank filters – making it vital to the metabolism of pioneers and PDAs alike.”

The route advice comes from third-party guides rather than an official developer map. Their early-distance estimates conflict, and one route explicitly lacks independent in-game verification. The more consistent practical approach is to search caves and crevices around the early Old Habitat and colony-ruin neighborhood, then inspect ground and cliff surfaces. Exact resource placement and recipes can change during early access.
