That is a concrete official lead for supported Lenovo ThinkServer configurations—not proof that it is the newest firmware for every 9270CV-8i, OEM card, or server. Identify the card’s vendor and host system before downloading or installing anything.
Check the card and server before choosing firmware
The 9270CV-8i name alone may not identify the right package. The card may be an OEM-branded assembly with support tied to a particular server. Check the card label and the server’s documentation or inventory tools for the exact model, vendor branding, and host model. Use that information to determine which vendor’s firmware and compatibility guidance applies.

If the card is Lenovo-branded or installed in a supported ThinkServer

The listing says the package is for Windows and Linux and identifies compatible ThinkServer systems. Confirm that your card and server match Lenovo’s stated support scope before using it.
Search Broadcom’s support site for Broadcom-supported cards
- Open Broadcom Support Documents and Downloads.
- Search by the card’s product name or model number and filter the results for firmware. Broadcom’s guidance is to enter the product name or model in the “Search by keyword” bar.
- Check the result’s model coverage, package notes, date, and supported host systems. If the search does not return a result, consult the site’s older or end-of-life materials options, or contact the card’s OEM.
Broadcom says OEM controllers are not supported by Broadcom and directs owners to contact the OEM. If the card came from Lenovo, IBM, or another server vendor, use that vendor’s support page and system-specific package matrix rather than assuming a Broadcom package applies.

Do not select firmware by comparing version numbers or by treating 9270-8i and 9270CV-8i as interchangeable names. The documented listings differ in model coverage, vendor, and date; neither proves which package is right for an individual OEM card.
Verify the firmware and driver combination for your host
For ESXi and other managed-server environments, check the compatibility guide and the server OEM’s matrix for the recommended firmware-driver combination for the exact controller and host. Broadcom’s firmware and driver compatibility guidance advises using certified drivers with compatible firmware and checking the relevant OEM guidance.

Use the readme or installation instructions included with the exact firmware package, along with the host OEM’s maintenance guidance. The general Broadcom firmware-upgrade information is not a 9270CV-8i-specific flashing procedure. Do not infer a flashing sequence from a generic page or install a package intended for a similar model. The sources cited here do not establish a controller-specific update sequence or backup procedure.
