Stronghold 4 is scheduled to launch on Steam in Early Access on December 7, 2026. Firefly Studios announced the date on October 8, and the Steam listing shows the same date while marking the game “Coming Soon To Early Access.” A demo is available, with Free Build first and Skirmish Mode scheduled for October 19 during Steam Next Fest.

When does Stronghold 4 come out?
Firefly Studios says Stronghold 4 releases on Steam on December 7, 2026. Steam independently lists December 7, 2026, as the release date. This is the planned Early Access release, not a confirmed version 1.0 launch: Steam currently labels the game “Coming Soon To Early Access” and says it is not yet available. Firefly Studios says the demo is available, starting with Free Build. The demo is rolling out in two parts:

Those dates and availability are based on Firefly Studios’ announcement. The earlier June 23 date still mentioned in an older support FAQ predates this announcement and does not describe the current demo rollout.
What kind of game is Stronghold 4?
Steam describes Stronghold 4 as a narrative prequel set years before the original game, following Penryn of Wethel. Firefly Studios’ advertised feature set combines a cinematic campaign with castle building and customization, medieval economy systems, and sieges. The current Steam page lists these modes and details:

These are features described by the developer on the Steam store page, not independent review or performance findings.
What is planned for Early Access and version 1.0?
Firefly Studios’ Steam listing estimates that Early Access will last around six months, but says the estimate could change. The page describes the early build as planned to include the 22-mission prequel campaign, full skirmish mode with eight CPU opponents, Free Build, and a curated skirmish trail.

For version 1.0, the listing names online multiplayer, a cooperative skirmish trail, an economic campaign, and updates shaped by player feedback as planned additions. These are roadmap intentions, not guarantees. Steam also says the price may rise during Early Access as features and content are added. Check the current Steam listing for changes.

Is Stronghold 4 coming to platforms besides Steam?
The current release announcement and Steam listing identify Steam as the platform for the December 7, 2026 Early Access release. They do not establish a release date or availability for another platform.
