There is no well-supported single cheapest month to buy new tires. A 2013 study based on retailer interviews points to late spring and early summer, and fall, as periods when tire promotions commonly appear—but it does not prove either is always cheapest. Compare current offers for the exact tires your vehicle needs, and don’t postpone a necessary replacement just to wait for a possible sale.
When are tire sales most likely?
A South Coast Air Quality Management District study published October 31, 2013, reports that interviewed retailers said tire sales generally rise in late spring and early summer, and in fall. The report says manufacturer promotions generally coincide with those busy periods. That makes these useful times to check for offers, not guaranteed windows for the lowest prices: the finding is qualitative retailer interview evidence, not a current nationwide analysis of monthly tire prices.
There is no established monthly price statistic or savings figure showing that buyers reliably pay less in one particular month. Treat seasonal timing as a reason to look, not as proof that waiting will save money.

Why a sale calendar can’t guarantee the best deal
Manufacturer and retailer promotions have specific dates, eligible tires, and redemption conditions. Michelin says promotion dates change throughout the year, and qualifying purchases must be made through a participating dealer within the offer period. Retailer and dealer pages also list dated offers and exclusions. Check the current terms for the tire and seller you’re considering rather than assuming a holiday or season will bring a particular rebate.

For example, Hankook’s published fall promotion terms include eligibility limits and restrictions on combining certain offers. A rebate’s advertised value matters only if your purchase qualifies and you can complete the required redemption steps on time.
How to compare tire offers fairly
- Confirm the required fitment. Check the vehicle’s tire-information label and owner’s manual for the correct size and ratings. Toyota Canada recommends retaining original-equipment fitment for replacement and winter tires. Don’t choose a tire based on price until you have confirmed it suits your vehicle.
- Compare the final installed cost. Add mounting, balancing, taxes, disposal charges or other applicable fees, and shipping. Account for rebates separately, including the redemption requirements and deadline, so you know what you must pay upfront and what you may receive later.
- Compare the same suitable tire across sellers. Check availability and installation timing as well as the final price. Include any services or benefits, such as shipping or road-hazard coverage, when comparing offers; what a retailer includes can vary.
- Weigh performance and ownership factors. Consider climate and driving conditions, performance information, estimated tire life, warranty, specifications, your preferences, and budget. The lowest sticker price is not necessarily the best value if the tire is unsuitable or its availability delays installation.
- Read the complete promotion terms. Verify dates, participating dealers, eligible models, submission deadlines, and whether a retailer discount can be combined with a manufacturer rebate.
Should you wait for a tire rebate?
If your tires need replacing now, don’t delay solely in hopes of a seasonal sale. The available evidence supports checking for promotions during common busy periods; it does not establish that a future month will be cheaper. If replacement is not urgent, compare current offers and revisit them when you are ready to buy, while keeping the correct fitment and total installed cost at the center of the decision.
