Google announced the June 2025 Pixel Drop on June 10, alongside the start of the Android 16 rollout to supported Pixel phones. Its additions included the Pixel VIPs Contacts widget, AI sticker creation in Gboard, camera and accessibility updates, and expanded availability for some existing features. Eligibility varies by phone, Android version, language, and country, so the Drop is not one identical feature bundle for every Pixel.
What is the June 2025 Pixel Drop?
A Pixel Drop is a set of feature updates that Google makes available to eligible Pixel devices. In its June 10, 2025 announcement, Google paired the Drop with Android 16 beginning to roll out to supported Pixel phones. The announcement describes what was launching or planned at that time; it does not establish the current rollout status of every feature.
Check eligibility feature by feature rather than assuming that installing Android 16—or owning a Pixel—unlocks everything. Some features have minimum Pixel generations, and others also require a supported language, country, or accessory.

These are the announcement-era qualifications, not confirmation that every feature remains available in every listed market today. Google’s feature announcement is the source for the device and language qualifications in the table.

What Pixel VIPs does
Pixel VIPs is a Contacts app widget for keeping selected people’s information and recent interactions close at hand. Google said the widget can display the last call and message with a VIP, including WhatsApp messages, as well as a shared location, birthdays, and other details. Google says sensitive information such as call logs and message content stays on the device.
Google’s Pixel VIPs setup guide explains how to add people and details such as birthdays, location, preferences, and gift ideas in contact memos. VIPs are set as Favorites or Starred Contacts, and location sharing can use Google Maps or Android Find Hub. A VIP can bypass Do Not Disturb; Google’s setup instructions also explain how to turn that behavior off.

How AI stickers work in Gboard
On eligible Pixel 9 phones, Gboard can open Pixel Studio so you can make a sticker from a text prompt and choose an emotion without leaving the keyboard. Google also described making a sticker from a photo in the camera roll, with the subject separated from its background.

At announcement, Google limited this feature to Pixel 9 phones in select countries and English, Japanese, or German. The announcement does not provide a complete country list, so it does not support assuming availability everywhere those languages are spoken.

Recorder, Satellite SOS, and other expanded features
Recorder summaries and Clear Voice
Google’s announcement listed AI-generated Recorder summaries in French and German for specified Pixel 9 models. It listed English summaries for the Pixel 8 series and Pixel 9a. Clear Voice was extended to Pixel 8 and newer. These are the language and model details Google gave in June 2025, not a guarantee of current availability.
Satellite SOS in Australia
Google announced Satellite SOS availability in Australia for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The announcement said service was included at no additional charge for the first two years after activation, subject to restrictions. Because service availability and terms can change, check Google’s current information for Australia before relying on this feature or its included-service period.

Hearing aid controls with LE Audio
Android 16 added hearing aid functions for Pixel 9 and newer when running Android 16 and paired with LE Audio hearing devices. Google said users could take calls and access hearing aid presets. Some controls, including ambient volume, depend on support from the hearing aid manufacturer; owning a compatible Pixel alone is not sufficient.
Expressive Captions
Expressive Captions gained the ability to capture elongated words. Google also announced availability in Canada, the UK, and Australia in addition to the US, for English on Pixel 6 and newer running Android 15 or later.
What Google said was coming to Google Photos
Google described one-tap AI suggestions, recommendations based on the part of a photo selected, and easier access to favorite editing tools as coming “soon.” The June 2025 announcement does not establish whether or where those tools have since rolled out. Do not treat that announcement alone as confirmation they are currently available.
Do you need a new Pixel to get the June Drop?
Not necessarily. The right question is whether your existing phone qualifies for the particular feature you want. For example, the announcement listed Magnifier live search for Pixel 5 and newer, Pixel VIPs for Pixel 6 and newer, and the hearing aid functions for Pixel 9 and newer with Android 16 and compatible LE Audio hardware. Google did not say that users whose phones already qualify need to upgrade.
