Camtasia 2023 launched on April 25, 2023, with 32 color filters, new motion and vignette effects, cursor styling, Corner Pinning, and beta AI background removal. Other changes often associated with the 2023 series—including audio visualizers and Rev—arrived in later updates, not at launch.
What Camtasia 2023 added at launch
TechSmith dates Camtasia 2023.0.0 to April 25, 2023. Its release histories for Mac and Windows list the central launch additions below. These are the capabilities TechSmith describes; the release notes do not establish independent performance comparisons.
Color filters and Vignette
The new Filters tab in the Visual Effects tool bin included 32 color filters, also called Color LUTs. TechSmith described them as a way to apply color treatments to footage. Vignette adjusts the image edges and center focus, offering a separate way to draw attention within a shot.

Motion Path
Motion Path animates media along a path, allowing elements to move through a scene rather than remain fixed or use only a basic movement. TechSmith describes it as animation that “flows and swoops along a path.”

Cursor color, shadow and packs
New Cursor Color and Cursor Shadow effects let editors style recorded pointers. The launch also added two cursor packs: Neon, with 58 cursors, and Hand Drawn, with 25. These options address pointer visibility and appearance in screen recordings.
Corner Pinning and AI Background Removal
Corner Pinning maps media into a 3D perspective, which can help make an inserted image or video appear to fit a surface viewed at an angle. AI Background Removal was introduced in beta; its launch status matters, so it should not be mistaken for a mature, independently assessed feature.
Dynamic backgrounds and asset-library refresh
The launch included Dynamic Background and Dynamic Fill assets, along with a refreshed asset library. These additions supplied visual elements editors could use in projects; the release notes do not make a claim about their quality relative to other libraries.
What arrived later in the Camtasia 2023 series
Several widely mentioned 2023 capabilities shipped in later releases. Dates and version labels differ by platform, so they should not be folded into the April launch list.

TechSmith’s version histories also record further recorder and visual-effect changes in subsequent updates. The specific later features above illustrate why “Camtasia 2023” can refer either to the April launch or to the evolving 2023 version series.
Which additions matter for different editing tasks?
- Color treatment: try the 32 Filters for overall looks and Vignette when you want to adjust attention toward the center of an image.
- Movement: Motion Path is the launch addition for animating media along a route.
- Screen-recording clarity: cursor color, shadow and the cursor packs provide styling choices for recorded pointers.
- Perspective and isolation: Corner Pinning is for perspective mapping; beta AI Background Removal addresses removing a background. They solve distinct compositing problems.
- Project assets and later workflow: the refreshed library and dynamic assets were launch additions; Rev and expanded asset browsing appeared later, with platform-specific release labels.
- Audio-focused projects: the Mac 2023.2.0 update added audio visualizers, while Mac 2023.2.1 added mono or stereo microphone recording.
Is Camtasia 2023 still supported?
TechSmith’s current release-policy chart classifies Camtasia 2023 as a perpetual edition. The chart says active development continued until version 2024, while security updates and major bug fixes continue until the release of version 2026. It does not give a calendar endpoint date for the Camtasia 2023 row, and the policy may change; consult TechSmith’s release policy for the current status.
