Cattle Country’s Bandits & Bounties update adds bounty hunting and bandit camps, three new crafting stations, new clothing and hair options, a boat-access fishing spot, several quality-of-life tweaks, and a batch of bug fixes. Playtonic Games announced it on 24 August 2026 and said it was available on Steam, with other platforms to be announced later.
Bounty hunting and bandit camps
The headline feature expands outlaw encounters, under the announcement’s tagline “Life on the frontier is about to get a little wilder.” According to Playtonic Games’ official announcement, the bounty loop works like this:

- Find Wanted Posters at the Sheriff’s building.
- Take a bounty.
- Track the wanted bandit in the wilderness.
- Return to Sheriff Tom to collect the reward.
Bandit camps can also appear while you explore the overworld, and you may be able to claim plunder from them.
New crafting equipment

Breaks rocks down into useful materials and may uncover rare gems.

Customization
The update adds new outfits, hats and head accessories. Red hair is now a character customization option.
New fishing destination
On Tuesdays and Saturdays, you can take a boat from the docks to a new fishing spot. Fish from every season can be caught there. The announcement also says fishing is more forgiving while a fishing buff is active.

- Buried Treasure. Did yer hear? There's treasure in the mines, for those who are brave enough to look for it. From precious metals and minerals to bandit stashes. Grab your pickaxe and venture out into the thrill of prospecting.
Quality-of-life changes
- Expanded NPC dialogue.
- Inventory counts now display beyond 9,999.
- Birds in trees sway with the branches.
Bug fixes
The announcement lists these selected fixes and says there are more beyond them:

- Controller problems while cooking and crafting.
- Incorrect skin-color display after switching between new-game creation and loading a save.
- A crash in French during Dr. Andrew’s ninth heart scene.
- Animal resources failing to appear after extensive butchering.
- Winter invitation mail being sent for unavailable scenes.
- Shed, coop and barn upgrade items being removed incorrectly.
Platform availability
The announcement tells players to get the update on Steam and says details for other platforms would come later. The Cattle Country Steam page is the official listing. Neither source confirms whether the update has since reached other platforms, so check the platform’s store page or Playtonic’s news before assuming it has.
