There is no single support period or update timetable for every vivo phone. vivo places selected models on monthly, quarterly or regular security-update schedules, while its Android Enterprise Recommended (AER) table gives more specific dates and Android-version information for a narrower set of AER devices. Your exact model, regional variant and market determine which entry applies. Security patches and Android-version upgrades are separate commitments, and rollout dates can vary even when a schedule is published.
What vivo’s policy actually covers
vivo publishes two different kinds of software information. Its global security page groups selected phones into monthly, quarterly and regular security-update lists. Those updates include Android security patches released by Google, along with other fixes vivo or a chipset supplier may include when they are ready.
Separately, vivo’s AER table lists certain business-oriented devices with a stated security-update frequency, a security-support date, the Android version shipped on the phone and future Android versions listed for that model. vivo explicitly says the table is for AER device users. It is therefore not a universal promise covering every phone with the same commercial name, every regional variant or every consumer market.

Security patches and Android upgrades are different
Security updates
A security update patches vulnerabilities in the operating system, components or device software. The global vivo page describes its security coverage in terms of monthly, quarterly or regular releases. A phone can continue receiving security patches without receiving a new major Android version.
Android-version upgrades
An Android upgrade changes the major operating-system version, such as moving from Android 15 to Android 16. It can add features, alter permissions and change the interface. A phone may receive several security patches during the period between two Android versions, and a listed future Android version does not specify the day on which the upgrade will arrive.
When evaluating support, record both items: the security cadence and end date, and the shipped and future Android versions. Treating a monthly patch schedule as a promise of monthly Android upgrades is incorrect.

Monthly, quarterly and regular lists
vivo’s global security page separates selected devices into monthly, quarterly and regular update groups. “Monthly” describes the planned security-update frequency for models in that group; “quarterly” indicates a less frequent planned cycle; “regular” is a broader schedule without a fixed monthly or quarterly interval stated in the category name.
These labels apply only to the models vivo places on the lists. They cannot be safely extended to an entire series, to an older generation or to a phone sold under a similar name in another country.

Why a scheduled patch can arrive later
vivo says delivery timing varies by model and region. It also notes that a planned security update can be delayed while an operating-system upgrade is being prepared, tested or merged. Chipset-specific fixes and other patches may be included in a later package after they are ready. A schedule is therefore a target framework, not an exact promise that every handset will show a notification on the same day.
What “regular” does not tell you
The regular category does not, by itself, establish a fixed number of releases per year or a guaranteed support end date. For that information, check the exact model on vivo’s support pages and, where relevant, the AER table.
What the AER table can tell you
The AER table is the clearest source for the model-level examples below. vivo’s current table was observed on 13 October 2026. The dates are written as “at least,” which means you should preserve that qualification rather than treating the date as a hard cutoff.
| Model listed by vivo | Security-update frequency | Security support listed through | Android version shipped | Future Android versions listed | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| vivo V50 | Every 30 days | At least December 2028 | Android 15 | Android 16, 17 and 18 | AER device users; exact market and variant must match |
| vivo V50e | Every 30 days | At least April 2029 | Android 15 | Android 16, 17 and 18 | AER device users; exact market and variant must match |
| vivo X200 FE | Every 30 days | At least July 2030 | Android 15 | Android 16 through 19 | AER device users; exact market and variant must match |
| vivo X300 | Every 30 days | At least November 2032 | Android 16 | Android 17 through 21 | AER device users; exact market and variant must match |
| vivo X300 Pro | Every 30 days | At least November 2032 | Android 16 | Android 17 through 21 | AER device users; exact market and variant must match |
These are examples from the table, not a ranking and not a complete catalogue of vivo phones. The table does not prove that every V50, X200 FE or X300 sold worldwide has identical support. Regional firmware, carrier certification and the phone’s exact model identifier still matter.
Reading the V50 entry correctly
For an AER-listed V50, vivo states a 30-day security-update frequency, support through at least December 2028, Android 15 at shipment and Android 16, 17 and 18 as future versions. That is useful evidence for an AER user or buyer comparing published commitments. It is not a guarantee that every regional V50 variant will receive a package exactly every 30 days or that all markets share the same rollout date.

Why the X300 dates should not be generalized
The X300 and X300 Pro entries show how different a newer model’s published window can be: at least November 2032 for security support, with Android 16 shipped and Android 17 through 21 listed as future versions. This longer horizon belongs to those specific AER entries. It should not be converted into a universal “vivo phones get seven years” rule.

-
Identify the exact model
Open Settings > About phone. vivo’s device manuals describe this section as showing model and software information. Record the full model name and, if shown, the model number or regional identifier.
-
Check the regional support listing
Use vivo’s official support or model-lookup page for the country where the phone is sold and used. Regional sites can show different models, firmware packages and support content. Match the model identifier instead of relying only on the product-family name.
-
Run the on-device check
Open Settings > System update. The manual says this screen checks whether an update is available and lets you install it when one is offered. Keep the phone connected to a reliable network and follow the on-screen instructions.
-
Prepare before a major upgrade
Use Wi-Fi for a large system package and back up important photos, messages and files before installing a major Android upgrade. Keep the battery charged and avoid interrupting the installation once it begins.

A blank update screen means the device is currently up to date according to that check; it does not, by itself, establish that support has ended. vivo’s separate rollout guidance says availability can differ by region and model, so compare the result with the applicable support listing.
How to interpret a missing or late update
The schedule date has passed, but no notification appears
- Confirm that the phone’s model and market match the published entry.
- Open Settings > System update and check manually rather than waiting for a notification.
- Allow for staged or region-specific delivery; vivo says rollout timing varies.
- Check whether an Android-version upgrade is being tested or merged, because vivo says that work can delay a planned security package.
- Look for a later package that includes chipset-specific fixes or other patches released after the original target.
The phone reports that it is up to date
This status means no update is currently available to that device through the on-device check. It does not reveal the future support end date. A model can be between releases, awaiting regional certification or receiving a package in stages.
The phone is an imported or carrier variant
Do not install firmware intended for a different regional model merely because the commercial name matches. The support page for the phone’s actual market is the safer reference, and mismatched software can create compatibility or installation problems.

For buyers who prioritize security
Look first for a model with a published cadence and a stated support date that match your market. An AER entry can provide more detail than a general monthly, quarterly or regular label, but its scope remains limited to AER device users and the listed model.
Recommended Free Tools
For buyers who prioritize new Android features
Compare the number and identity of future Android versions listed for the exact model. The shipped version matters because it determines how many of the listed upgrades are still ahead of you. For example, a phone shipped with Android 15 and future versions 16, 17 and 18 has a different upgrade path from one shipped with Android 16 and future versions 17 through 21.

For long-term ownership
Keep a record of the model identifier, purchase region and the date you checked vivo’s support page. Published schedules can change, and the current table observed on 13 October 2026 is not a permanent snapshot. Recheck before buying and periodically during ownership.
For business deployments
The AER designation is particularly relevant when an organization requires a documented security cadence or Android-version roadmap. Confirm that the devices are being purchased and managed as the AER-listed variants; a retail phone with a similar name may not fall under the same entry.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying one family’s policy to every vivo phone: schedules are for selected models, not automatically for an entire range.
- Equating patches with Android upgrades: security fixes and major-version changes are separate.
- Dropping the words “at least”: a listed date such as “at least November 2032” is not evidence of a hard stop on that date.
- Reading an AER row as a global guarantee: vivo states that the table is for AER device users.
- Expecting an exact delivery day: model, region, testing and package integration can change timing.
- Assuming no notification means end of life: the on-device result only says that no update is currently available.
- Flashing software for another region: model names can conceal different firmware and certification requirements.
A practical way to document your phone’s support
Create a small record with five fields:
- Exact model and model number: copied from Settings > About phone.
- Market or region: the country and sales channel where the phone was supplied.
- Current Android version: the version shown in the software information screen.
- Published security cadence and end date: copied from the applicable vivo listing, retaining “at least” where shown.
- Future Android versions: listed separately from the security cadence.
This record prevents a common error: remembering a support date for one regional variant and assuming it applies to another. Update it whenever vivo changes the model page or the phone installs a major Android release.

What is and is not guaranteed
vivo’s official security page states that the company takes security issues seriously and aims to respond as soon as possible. That statement expresses the manufacturer’s approach; it is not a specific delivery guarantee. The operational information is the model list, the AER table where applicable, and the caveat that timing varies by model and region.
The published material establishes planned frequencies and listed Android versions for selected devices. It does not establish identical real-world delivery performance for every country, carrier or firmware branch. For an individual phone, the combination of the exact model lookup and the Settings > System update check is more reliable than a generic claim about the vivo brand.
